SON OF A B*$!#

Yeah well an ironic thing happened the other week. I went to go start my car at work and it statred and then POOF it turned off wouldnt start anymore. i figured it was probably my fuel pump so i listen for it and sure enough it made no sound, but the funny part it did it a week before HIGH SCHOOL DRAGS and PROM so i was **** outa luck for fixin it. so now it still sadly sits at my house my next paycheck it coming up so i need to know; what i should buy and how the hell to install it CAN YOU HELP?!?

From what I unerstand most of all the pumps are made by one company. Everyone just puts their own name on them. If you just need to replace it a chiltons will tell you have and even give you pics. They are fairly simple to do but there is one very important thing to remember!!! If it's got a lot of gas in it take it out!!!! Also get a buddy to help you it's a much eaiser job with an extra set of hands!! Good luck

Did you think to check the fuel pump relay? Its doesn't seem to me that a fuel pump would just stop working. Check the relay, befor you go through all the work to remove the tank. The relay is mounted under the seat. That would be the first thing i would check. Good luck and let us know what you find.

DO THE RELAY FIRST!!! I can't stress that enough. After a wasted Saturday and a $150 Pump, the next day I found out that it was the $8 ten seconds to plug in relay !! So the 88 now has a new pump and relay.

one night my dads 89 2.3 just wouldnt start, after looking, we found the relay had been tripped, pushed the button in and it started right up...that's one of the best safety features ford has, but no one know's how it works

EDIT: Inercia (spelling) switch...i dont think thats a relay is it...it's that switch
