Caldwell trading the Stang out for a Honda ..... OMG, what is this world coming to?

Speaking of Solstice, though, I will be getting the Saturn version of that car when it gets here. I can still be considered "sane", though, because I will be keeping the Stang.

Huh, I guess I misunderstood you. I thought you said you were looking for a year round car. Obviously you don't intend to drive an s2000 in a kanuck winter, right? You're not crazy are you?

So anyhoo, you want a new little, cool vert. What about an '05 'stang, '01~'02 'vette, or Lotus Elise.

Ugh... with that price range so many options... Hate to see you go, I'm not around nearly as much as I used to be but I still recognize staple members...

Anyways, hate to say it but for some reason you're leaning towards chick cars and you're probably the only person I've known who doesn't get sti's ... shame really

I can't tell you that an S2000 is a crappy car!? BULLCHIT!! I've driven Honda's little flagship, and it was freakin lame. You have to rev 5k to get the damn thing to leave the light. The one I drove had 3k miles on it, and already had wind noise at high speeds, and to top it all off I ran one that had full exhaust, cam gears, and CAI from a 70 mph role (the best place for the Honda to run) in my almost stock 95 GT, and he had ONE car on me at 120mph.

Plus, if you will go back, and read your criteria (pimpable, fast when needed, year round, ect.) the freakin Z4 doesn't meet any of them. THE Z4 IS A FREAKIN GIRL CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I seriously think you have lost your mind.

My previous post is also ignoring the fact that you could do a 300+hp Ford racing crate motor, TKO tranny, full suspension, lambo doors, whatever body kit you want, candy paint, suade interior, and still have some change left over when compared to the prices of the vehicles you are looking at, which will do you no better during the winter months than what you have now.

BMW pays for everything on my mine. No cost for oil changes or ANY maintenance for 50k miles. I have 13k on it now.

For the record, Mercedes is ****. They fall apart. Real pieces of ****. I owned one and it was in the shop like FOREVER. Same thing with everyone else that I know that owned one.

I think i remembered bmw's haveing alot of problems. On my Uncles 740il the tranny went with 54,000 miles, and it cost like 7 grand. One of of my Uncles friends had a bmw, and the tranny went on that with like 60 or 70k on it. It cost him almost 9,000 for everything. Just from those two examples is why i wouldnt buy a bmw. But thats just my person experience with them, might not be how they all are.

I am old!
23 man, i'm like a senior citizen compared to the average age on this forum

It basically just boils down to the fact that I want something with a warrant, but still get what I love. I hate the new '05s so you'd never see me in one of those, and I'm not interested in spending a million dollars modding my next car.

In truth, you won't see me modding the chit out of my next car.
Rims, maybe a small body kit, maybe. and that's it.
I had the idea of a supercharger... etc before.
But right now I just don't have the time.

who knows
maybe the lot of you are right.
come 5 months from now
maybe my mind will change.
:shrugs:

ps: bmws are expensive when they break down.
So can any other car if it breaks down enough though.

Well considering that you are serious, I will reply with a serious post. If you do get the Z4, don't wuss out. Buy the M version... Spend the extra and get the best model out there, not only will it be a pimp mobile, but it will shed part of the girl factor with that small little badge on the rear decklid...

again, not available in the US yet.

when made it might come with a 400+hp V8--yeah easy pimpin with no chick car illusions.

just a thought ther Caldwell, i know you don't like the Z3's as much, but you can get a 01-02 M roadster(z3) with the 333hp M3 motor. they don't handle like a Z4, but the S54 motor is a beast.

You guys bring good points. I don't plan on dumping several thousand on a chick mobile, i promise lol! I will go tits down on this next purchase, but the car needs to be perfect. The ZM4 I think is supposed to be released soon though isn't it?

I did actually see the ZM3, and I like it a lot more than the Roadster. I will admit that. I saw one with a bodykit for $38G, and it only had 13k miles on it. Barely broken in. It wasn't red though, so I didnt want it. Red will be the choice colour for the next car.

Any other suggestions?

The Z4-M will be worth the wait. You should wait it out until it ships, and then make the decision. By then you might end up keeping the very limited and clean black vert with white interior...

on the Z3 M roadsters look only at 01-02 as the earlier models had the 240hp S50 motor, trust me you want the S54.

Maybe a Boxster S, Note the S.

SLK320 AMG

2000 CLK55 AMG vert--dunno if they made an AMG vert in the clk, but the coupes rock

M3 Vert--gotta get SMG--fock yes

If you have to rev it to 5k to have any "go" then you need to learn to use a clutch.

He never said he wanted a 9 second car. The S2000 is a very nice driving automobile, which is more of balanced car than a "GO" car. It still has some kick, but I bet you the thing would make you look like a little girl on a road track.

Plus all in a 4 cylinder, the gas mileage is not bad.

BTW - if you get a S2000, get the hardtop...MMMMM.

*I still want you to keep your stang, I'm just giving my opinion on your second picks.

LOL, you had me laughing there. the SMG is a fooortune! Big Moooney. I looked at the SLK, this was my opinion on Mercedes.
If i was going to spend a low end amount of money on a car... say $30-60 on either a BMW or Mercedes, i'd go BMW because their lower end cars still look expensive... whereas i find the Mercedes look cheap.
And then on the high end scale, as soon as you break $60G on a mercedes, they look insanely sexy...

Lemme see what I can find on the Z3M

http://www.icardeals.com/imotors/0617/a14.jpg

about $34G with 30,000 kilos on it...
that's actually not bad
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

I appreciate it Kev
believe me i am taking what you say into consideration. it's helping me a lot in narrowing down exactly what i should spend my time looking at.
i really have no interest in building myself a rocketmobile, so i decided to go with something a bit different.

i dont mind the hardtops either, but i didnt look into seeing how much they cost. I know they have add-on oem parts, but their clear corners were like $1100

My g/f wants a stang yours would be great for her. If I can get her to save $$ your car would be a great car for her to drive and me to mod. I'm being serious too she wants one while we are living in SC, of course this would be in Nov of next year. But if it's up for sale it would be a great car for her hmmmmmmmm.

let me know dude
it's going up for sale next year, i can guarantee you that.

hmph.. it's at 117ks now, which is like 71 thousand miles?
i don't even know what that would go for in the u.s.

they usually sell in canada for $15k
which is a lot lower in the us.
