rob is correct i have 4.30 in my with a t5 and it sees aroung 25-2600 between 65-70 as well. it wasnt so bad when i live on long island with a speed limit of 55 but donw here not im fla a speed limit of 70 means you gotta go 80-85 or people are up your ass then shes really turning so rpms on the highway. oh well thats why i have my 94 lightning for so i can drive on the higway since it only has 4.10's lol

Because that information is inaccurate for HIS car.

I think it is a better habit to let people know the real deal, and not bias answers. That is just me though.

Why would someone lie about what RPM their car turns at a certain mph??? The truth is tires vary in size, even the same supposed size tire could be a different diameter. Personally if someone tells me what RPM their car is turning I usually listen and believe what they are sayng. Now if the tach is off thats one thing, but if not then what more could you want from them?

i have 3.90s and a zpec t5 with the higher OD and i turn 2k at 65.

I would personally get 3.55s.

the 373 up are fun no doubt and are great. but after over a year ov driving on them. the car just has just a tad to much gear for my tastes. will just fry em through 1st and almost all of second. i would like to swap to 3.55s each gear will last a little longer and wont be such a smoke machine on the street as bad. at the track i would drop a small bit but i wouldnt be able to feel it on the street, since all i do in spin the tires with the 3.90s

plus ive rode in a stock 5.0 with 3.55s and it felt nice the PERFECT mix b/w highway and some gear for some get-up. felt a little better since each gear actually lasted and wouldnt have to shift so much in daily driving.

i say 3.55s

I have 3.73's and I turn 1900 in 5th gear at about 65, but I that's with a TKO. My previous T-5 was about the same as everyone else.

Why you calling BS on me? I drove it two nights ago and was paying specific attention to the my rpms. In 5th. Unless I have the wrong speedo gear in my trans, (which I don't think is the case) it is indeed that low.

Why you bustin my balls GTO? I'm just trying to play nice with all the other boys and girls here. If I'm wrong, which is entirely possible, no big deal, but I really don't have any reason to lie about it. So, to answer your questions, My fifth gear is .64. No it's not a factory 5 speed it's a TKO 600 like I said earlier, and I'm not sure how tall my tires are. Rims are 16 in. tires are like 50's? Haven't looked for a while. Speedo gear is from the T-5 that I blew. It's red, I don't recall the tooth count though it's been so long since I ordered it. I was going to drive it earlier to check again to make sure I'm not out of my mind for saying 1900, but I swear when I looked the other day it was a tiny bit under 2k. I'm leaving early in the morning for vacation tomorrow and won't be back until Tuesday, so feel free to speculate all you want until I get back and can drive it again. It's kind of funny really, cuz my original post probably didn't help him any cuz he's using a T-5. See you in a few days StangNet. :SNSign:

It appears your speedo is thrown off by quite a bit and you are thinking you are running 70mph, but your not. You are using the wrong speedo gear.

Your tires are probably 245/50/16's?

Or 225/55/16's?

I'm confused. The chart says that with 3.73s at 80MPH is about 2600RPM. I turn ~2500RPM in my car at 80MPH with stock 3.08 gears? Probably 21-2200RPM at 70MPH. How is this so close to 3.73s? I was expecting a big difference

Stock tires + wheels too

You might try checking your rpm again. 3-400 rpm difference is pretty steep between an actual 70mph and 80mph.

What year tranny do you have? Correct speedo gears? You sure you have stock 3.08:1's? You don't think they could have been changed?

Speedo accurate? Tach accurate?
