sound off 3.55's or 3.73's

The rule of thumb for stock 5.0 motors is 355's for 5 spd's and 373's for aod's. And I CAN attest to this. I started off with 373's and went to 410's. For the fun factor around town the 410's win. But at the track its 2 tenths faster with the 373's. I have an AOD.

GTOReturns - That isn't the first time I have heard that someone went faster with 3.73's over 4.10's.

My 373's run me at 2,400 rpm at 70mph. A gear calculator confirmed my rpm guage.

Grn92lx's car runs higher than 2,600rpm at 70mph, just so ya'll know;)

I turn about 2500 RPM at 70 MPH with 4.10's. Nice thing about them on the highway is that the higher revs keep you closer to your powerband and you never have to downshift to get around someone on the interstate. The downside, of course, is that 1st gear is so short that it's almost useless, and I'm almost at redline for the last 100' or so of the 1/4 mile in 4th gear.

I woulda' preferred 3.73's to go with my T-5, but the 4.10's were already in it when I scored the car, so I'll just live with 'em until they crap out ... if ever. :)
