So my speedo hasn't been correct since I had the supercharger installed way back in the day. Got pulled over for 70 in a 50 this past weekend.

Does anybody know of a place in Northern VA where I could get my speedo "Officially" calibrated to be correct again so that I can reduce my ticket from speeding to faulty equipment? I know I could take it to excessive and have them reprogram my chip, but I was hoping for someplace more "official" so that it would hold up in court.

Thanks in advance,

Just look in your phonebook under AUTOMOTIVE SPEEDOMETER because there are places that have dynos made for speedometer readings with prints that prove your speedo was incorrect for court. Then just look up for a speed shop that might be able to reprogram your chip or get a calibrator if you have a 5-speed before it messes up your odometer readings too much. BTW, since u live in VA, do u know if removing your catalytic converters is legal?

Why wasn't the speedo fixed with the chip initially?

I don't know about Va. but in SC It is not legal to remove the cats, but like a lot of other states, it isn't enforced.

The speedo was right before they chipped it with the SC. I fought back and forth to get it corrected and they kept saying it was right, but it isn't. I could pace with any number of people and when I was at 50, they were at 64 or so... I think the chip was set for 3.55s or 3.75s and they never set it for the stock 3.25s..

hmm.. maybe I should just get 3.73s and see if it resolves itself... *giggle*

And yes, removing your cats is illegal, you will not pass emissions and if you get caught it is a hefty fine... if you want to go off-road exhaust, your best bet is to put "dummy" cats on the pipes to make it look like you have them for any nosey cop, and then swap out your mid-pipe with a catted one when you go to get sniffed for inspection.... not that I'm encouraging such a thing...

Stock gears are 3.27 BTW...not 3.25s.
