Ive had my 95 gt for about a year now and im beginning to get too used to stock. For the most part its stock, however there no cats, a superchip and 3.55's. All of which was done before I bought the car. Odometer reads 114k, however the engine runs extremely smooth and really pulls. I am not sure what else has been done internally. I am considering an SQ vortech kit, however I'm sure whether thats a good idea with the mileage on the car. How would the vortech effect the life of the engine? (It's a daily driver) Also, vortech claims a little over a hundred hp and 85 ft/lb, is that accurate?
THanks

I would not do it unless the engine was freshened up like new pistonsw, rings etc. The hp and torque is about right but I would change heads, can, intake to really get the nice pull of the blower gears and a good exhaust will help as well.

Yea.. If i were to go n/a what would be a good combo cam, heads, intake. I was considering edelbrock performer, and twisted wedge. However i have no understanding of cam's and most likely never will. Do you think you could help me out with a good combination? Thanks, Matt

114k miles is just getting broken in for a 302. Unless it's smoking or showing other obvious signs of wear, you're just fine boosting it.

The choice of head/cam/intake is very subjective, and you will get as many different opinions as you get replies.

I would decide now what you want. If you want 400+ rwhp and are going to add boost anyway, I would go with decent, but not expensive heads. Even a pair of GT40's with appropriate supporting parts would be good.

If you're going to stay N/A, then I'd put a little more effort and money into maximizing the combo. High end aluminum heads, custom cam, and a good intake to match it, plus all the supporting mods (TB, MAF, exhaust, etc).

I'm not going to tell you what I would choose, because if you wanted to know you could find out easily enough, and I don't have my flame suit on right now....

Exactly.

I added a 100 shot of n2o @ 128K and then added the Vortech @ 140K, currently my car has what you see in my sig and is a frigg'n screamer.

I wouldn't worry about milelage in your decision to add a blower b/c your car is plenty young and it gonna break something, somewhere down the line and just just to be expected when adding mods or power adders. I had the same feeling @ 128K.

How much you want to invest and how much power you wanna make?

Ya Im really leaning towards it now, any suggestions about where to get it used? Ive checked stangnet classifieds and found one but the seller won't email me back so its either sold or no longer for sale. Im really looking to stick to that $1300 budget. THanks...Matt

300 rwhp for $1300 is going to be pretty tough. You could probably score a Vortech S-trim used for that, if you shop around and wait a bit, but you'd still have to deal with supporting mods, and the cost adds up very fast.

Im in between going for the head/cam/intake combo and the supercharger. However if i were to go n/a and use thumpers, I send my heads to thumper and he ports and polishes them? I think i said this earlier but Im not familiar with cams at all. If I where to get thumpers and a performer intake what cam would you recommend? I can't have anything with too rough of an idle because this is a daily driver. Im lookin for something maybe slightly more agressive than stock. Any suggestions? THanks a lot.. matt

instead of the blower id get the rest of the bolt ons....

headers
midpipe
catback
pulleys
CAI
MAF
TB

and top it off with a intake, you wont be at 300hp, bt you wont be putting as much strain on the motor either.

I was looking through the post about gt/cobra specs and I was reading through the different cams. This post has gotten off topic from the supercharger, but i think im going to do heads, cam, intake, then eventually, I will be ready for the supercharger. Anyone have recommendations for a mild cam? Something with an idle slightly more agressive than stock that would work well with Thumpers? THanks... Matt

I had an 86 GT that I put a Paxton, with 7psi boost. It had 108K when I did it. The car never let me down. When I sold it she had 150K, with no problems. I did take it to the track, but I wasn't there every weekend.
