Who's running one or is familiar with them? Is it designed to safeguard the heater core, or to improve cooling? Will the heater put out any less heat or warm up slower when running one? And where's a good place to buy it?

I installed a new heater core earlier this winter & am going to replace all the coolant hoses soon, just wondering if this is something worth adding if it's going to help the heater core last longer...

While on the subject of coolant hoses, does anyone make good silicone ones in basic black? I'm not a huge fan of the blue ones... maybe try regular parts stores and see if they can get SSP replacement hoses? When I had my P71 Crown Vic most places would have listings for the police model in their computer...

I'm not sure what year they started using the restrictor, but they should be on the standard cars, as well. It's more of a safeguard than anything, since the heater cores tend to go bad all the time in the Fox cars.

The whole purpose of the restrictor is to reduce the coolant pressure in the heater core to keep it from bursting. (which is STUPIDLY common on our cars)

I got mine from my local Lincoln/Mercury Dealer. Just go to the parts dept and ask for the heater core restrictor. They should know what you're talking about.

If the guy behind the counter at Ford doesn't have a clue what a heater core restrictor is you may want to have him search for : control..E7VY-18D358-A.

50 resto also carries the restrictor!
