Stage II cams?

the crower stage 2 I last saw the specs for was a helluva mild cam. I'd call it a minor change. the 270 is closer to what crower calls a stage 3 cam.

Get yourself a custom grind from comp. It's the same cost and always a better result.
 
get the blower cam. i have the stage 2 crower blower cam they are 571 lift and 234 234 duration at .50 thats what im running in my car and i love them great cams i also running there valve springs they are good until 600 lift
 
Don't get blower cams unless your plannig on going S/C. You'll end up losing more power since they are made for having a power adder. They will sound good and pull hard but if you want your cams to be sound and performace go with the 270's

I am getting tired of constantly correcting this Bull**** theory. One of the best N/A cams out there is the Comp 270, the Crower Stg 2 PI SC cam is almost identical to it with the exception of having more lift. It too works extremely well N/A. I am using the Crower Stg 2 PI SC cam in a N/A car that will never see a SC and am having great success with it. What one company considers a blower cam, another company has a N/A cam that is similar spec'd to it and vice versa. What matters most is the cam specs...

Just to show something here, I am posting the Comp 270 specs and Crower Stg 2 PI SC specs:

Comp 270:
234/238 @ .050", 109/117 113 LSA .550" lift intake and exhaust

Crower Stg 2 PI SC
234/234 @ .050", 110/118 114 LSA .581" lift intake and exhaust

Do you have any sound clips? The only other thing I would need are springs right?
 
I had clips of my car and can't find them anywhere...

All you need is springs if you have PI heads.

Stock PI cams
200/209 @ .050", 114 LSA, .504" intake .531" exhaust

You can find Comp cams from $400 - $600, depending where you buy them...
 
People had issues with the Comp 270's because they did not install them properly but that goes for any aftermarket cam. There are cases of PTV with VT stg 1, Stg 2 cams which also resulted from improper installation. Degree the cams in and you will be fine...
 
Don't mean to jack the thread, but it may help some people out sound wise.

Which cam will be better sound wise. The Comp 270 or Crower Stg 2 PI SC? What I will be looking for it that nice lope sound, noticeable but not extremely aggressive. I am a complete noob with cams :)

I have heard a few cars with 270's and it's idle is more lopey than my car. That said, my car because it is a 5.0L Big-Bore does make cams more mild, therefore less lopey. I would expect that my cams in a 4.6 would be just as lopey as the 270.
 
n/a cams have more of a lope than a blower cam,because of the lsa. n/a can have lsa in the range of 108 to 112 and blower cams in the 113-115 range. thats why a blower cam with the same duration and lift will have more lowend power. Even Vt say's that their stage 3 blowers make more hp than their stage 2 N/a on a n/a motor
 
Ill second the blower cam opinion. Ive seen quite a few cars perform well at the track with the blower cams and a low gear, NA. Also, DYNO Queens dont always equate to the fastest track car. There is more to a cam than just peek HP.

Always look at the specs of a cam, not the "stage", and ask different manufacturers what they recommend. I wouldnt go with a custom grind on a stock head, stock compression motor unless there is no extra charge and you are confident with the grind. I used the old erson reground cams, the lope was nasty at an idle, but the specs turned out to be wrong. Long story short, get with somebody you trust to set and degree the cams properly if you are not doing the install.

on the same note tho, N/A cams seems to perform well on FI cars like hotmustang's
 
You should look at the specs on each cam. They are both "stage 2" but Crower's have more lift ( I think .559 intake and .570 exhaust) and less duration. Comp 270s have more duration but both .550 gross lift on the intake and exhaust. More duration makes a choppier idle, but my Crowers have a unique sound. Crowers have less duration to prevent PTV contact. You can't have too much of lift and duration or it will cause PTV contact
