hello to all and happy holiday's. the car in question is a 2000 GT automatic with 148,000 trouble free miles, i love the car:D. now just recently once in a blue moon when i start her up wether at home or at work she will run for about 4 seconds then die. if i put my foot on the gas pedal she will stay running. after a few miles/minutes it starts to run and idle just fine like nothings wrong. again this happens only once in a blue moon:shrug:

If the IAC is the type with the black vent, do not clean it. Replace it.

The IAC without the vent can be cleaned.

Perform a basic IAC test. Disconnect the electrical connection. Idle should decrease or the motor die out right. If not, there is a problem with the IAC or a vacuum leak.

Check for vacuum leaks. Small vacuum leaks have more effect at idle than at higher flow rates.

I just recently fix almost the same problem with my 2000 GT. A new Autozone replacement, no longer quits right after pulling out of the parking space.
