Hey guys, as most of u know i got into a wreck and while i havent heard the final word yet, im sure its gonna be gone. So i've been thinking about what to get next, i've been wanting a truck but not at the expence of the stang. So it makes it hard to decide at this point. Here are some things in my head....

1.)98-02 Trans-am (<-- always been my favorite but they've always been too expensive in the past.

2.)96-01 cobra

3.) Avalanche(last model)

4.) 03 navigator

I thought about getting another 94-95, maybe a vert. But i think i want a change of scenery. I've had 3 94-98 stangs in my past, the first 2 being v6's. Which leans me towards 99-01 cobras. I want to get my hands dirty in a little DOHC fun. But i dunno, trucks drink gas but the cars are high on insurance. Feel free to comment on any of the above or to recommend something new!

see that is my biggest fear. just cruising along, minding my own business, and then all of a sudden, the torque causes me to lose traction, smash into something and then the car is totalled.

if you don't want to get another stang, then for a change of scenery, i'd go with a trans am convertible or one of those new saturn or pontiac roadsters.

Sorry for the confusion, when i started driving TA's were too much, but now, 4- 5 years later their more reasonable. Obviously not the $6500 i paid for my car 4 yeaers ago though. I wish the convertible TA's had the same wing as the coupe....that thing is bad ass IMO

:( i'm sorry to hear about your car. good luck with everything

Thanks again man, i got your PM. I was talkin with the claims people today so hopefully i'll know something soon.

2001 Cobra. Bottom line. Nothing else on that list comes close to it.

It is the best car to START a build with. It has a stong aluminum block (80 lbs.!), forged 8 bolt crank, etc. Upgrade to forged rods & pistons .... and slap all the boost you want on it!

Here my opionion....98+ Ls1 are fast...but the engines sit partialy behind the firewall.PITA to work...drop the engine to do major stuff. 99-01 Cobra while very cool being DOHC but still look the same inside as you last 3 stangs. Avalanche is a good family vehicle and pretty cheap alternative to a avalanche ext. My dad has one and its very awesome but a bit too big for me.

I agree with the other guy on the 350z...however I believe older models had 285hp..last time I worked at the dealership I beleive it said 285hp on the window stickers. The 350z is pretty bad ass imo and sexy as hell. If I didnt have to haul a kid around and had my stupid ex paying me child support. Id have a 350 instead of the mustang

96-98 Cobra's aren't nothing. You will have to upgrade the internals to get any more power than 450rwhp out of them. Just like a 5.0L's. They have a good block. They run right with a 99-04 SOHC Gt and are rated at 45 more horsepower...lol.

Get the ls1:nice: Cam swap and Longtubes and your at 400rwhp:nice: Then just get the Mongoose killer AFR heads and your set:)

I'm around the ls1's and all kinds of mustangs...several DOHC's. Get the ls1 and stay pushrod...
