Started the 84 t-top coupe

great work on this car it is quite impressive i love the turbo fox too. 2 very impressive machines. I am in the process of an extensive restoration on a 92 notch 4 to 8 cyl conversion. Seeing the work you have done on the engine bays of your cars has propelled me to make the decision to smooth my bay as well. how did the wiring harness fit back together and did u have to splice alot of wires to make everything fit upon reassembly. One last question where would a good place be to relocate my windsheild washer resivoir or do i ditch it entirely.

Thanks for the kind words.
We ditched our resevoir, I did have to lengthen 5 or 6 wires, just make sure you solder them don't use crimp connections. Good luck on your project.

Just a few updates, we received our hood props from Red Line Tuning, If any of you have not used these, you should take a look at them. I just wouldn't have another car without them, very nice product, good price and Brian is great to work with.

We had a paint failure, our matte charcoal, turned white. Thought maybe it was humidity issue, except the test panel we did was shot right beside the other two peices. We used a flatening agent in the clear from PPG, so we called PPG to find out some info and turns out this product DX685 has been discontinued due to all of the failures with it, and the place we got it from should never have sold it to anyone. We took the matter up with the store and they pretty much said we are SOL. So we are sanding down and going to shoot it with Dupont flattening agent which I guess is more reliable, gotta love bodywork and paint:notnice: Be glad when it is done,as soon as we shoot it again we'll post up, hopefully tomorrow.

The hood has been sanded, but you can still get the idea, how white it turned...

So PPG NOR the shop you bought it from will man up and at least give you new clear? Thats :bs: and terriable customer service. I hope you dont have to do regular buisiness with them.

That's right, PPG claims the store should make it right, since they should not have sold it, and the store acts like it might be our fault. We went on line and typed in DX685 and there is all kind of bad press on the stuff. We have used all Dupont products purchase from 2 other places ( I feel they would have helped us out with any issue like this). The proof will be today when we use the Dupont product. Yea, Tom you probably know the feeling.

Terry,

What store are you dealing with??? If PPG said it was discontinued why was it not recalled and removed from the shelf. I would call PPG up and tell them the store is jerking you around. That is not acceptable! The car is going to look great when you get this all sorted out!!!

I agree with 1vetetr, you should call back PPG and inform them the shop will not refund you and are blaiming you. I bet PPG will refund you themselfs. They are a big company and every time I have delt with them they had made sure to correct the problem. They seem to have very good customer service. :nice:

i wish i started taking pictures when i bought the car. The interior was perfect the car only has 43,000 original but i wish the body was perfect. I am replacing the entire drivers side strut tower panel. didn't want to go that way but figured that i would be cutting the fender aprons and custom bending new ones, and the fact that i scored a pair of perfect strut tower panels out of a junkyard car warrants an entire replacement. I have not seen anyone on this or anyother site with a complete strut tower replacement on a fox body so i figured i would be the first.

G.J. Miller, yea can you believe that! we even had an account there for Harvestmore:shrug: Phil talked to PPG and they didn't act like they were gonna do anything. I kid you not though, go online and type in PPG DX685 AND YOU WON'T BELIEVE THE CRAP.

I am not on here much, but OMG is that thing looking sweet. :nice:

After finding some hidden damage on my 86 t-top I thought about selling it. You may have just restored my faith in that car!

My 93 is electric red and I have always been a fan of the wild strawberry color too, nice choice.
