Steeda Tri Ax install

It went smooooooothly. and I set the handle to the left side at the lowest position. I Love how short my shifts are now! so much better than before. I HIGHLY recommend this mod to every manual owner. it feels a bit notchy but i absolutely love it. i think the notchy feel also gives it a more precise feel. the noise is more than i expect but i can still talk on the phone (with a earpiece of course) and i can also just turn the volume up on the radio to compensate.

Yeah, mine was a bit more "notchy" especially going to 2nd gear, but it still is 100% better than the stock one

i'd have to say that pretty much anything is better than the stock shifter...i can't wait to be done with my shift here at work so i can go drive some more

yea i did put the old boot on as per the instructions and honestly i am glad i did...we'll see how annoying the whine is when i make a long drive..but damn its such a great mod!

Yes I just completed my Tri-Ax install yesterday as well & absolutely love it. The shifts are much shorter but it is somewhat lowder than I like. Not a big deal @ all though. My 2nd gear is notchy. But I get into 3rd, 4th, & 5th over 2X quicker than before w/ half the effort.

yea i put mine as low as i could and now i just flick my wrist and it goes into gear. i can't wait to drive it some more

Yeah... gear noise is sometimes bothersome. You can wrap the handle in tape and it does away with a ton of the noise. Use non flammable duct tape.

I have my handle @ the lowest position as well. Setting it that low increases the noise level due to the fact that the rubber boot becomes slightly out of position, but I bought a short-throw shifter for a reason so I'm gonna get my use out of it, noise or not.

do you guys think the pro5.0 shifter has a lot of gear noise? It seems that everyone who complains about the noise only has the steeda tri-ax. If it is quieter I will probably end up getting it just with the tri-ax handle.

i had 2 tri-ax's but i am sold on the pro5.0 i just put it in and i like it so much better

There is essentially no gear noise with a pro 5.0. Got mine last week from Kona racing with a steel handle shaped like the triax handle. I wrote a thread about it a few days ago. Search this forum for kona racing. So far it's been a great combo!

I agree, I've never really noticed noises with my Pro 5.0.

No noise with the Pro 5.0 and stock leather shifter ball. If you add an Aluminum shift ball you will get the noise due to the metal-metal contact. But it is not really noticable unless your pretty observant. I love my Pro 5.0!!!

I used to have my tri-ax set on the lowest setting, but after trying the highest setting, I have found that a lot of the notchiness seems to have disappeared. The car definitely shifts with less effort now. I would recommend you try the highest setting and see how you like it...
