  • Just installed a Steeda t5/t45 Tri-ax shifter for my 99 Cobra and it's having issues getting into 3rd and fifth gear as well as reverse. We followed the instructions and watched some installation videos to make sure we did everything as we were supposed to. This shifter is supposed to work with 99 cobras and the car has a t45 transmission so that isn't the issue. The car gets into 1st, 2nd and 4th just fine but for some reason won't go into 3rd, 5th, and reverse. I'm going to move the shift stops to make sure they're not too tight and preventing the car from fully engaging the gears, but I'm not sure if there could be another reason why this is happening.

Check the shifter stops to make sure they are adjusted correctly.

That's what I'm going to do tomorrow, I'll update on whether or not that fixes the problem

Also make sure the piece that fits on the shifter ball that inserts into the transmission is still there. It tends to fall off if you aren't careful.

It ended up being the shift stops, went in and adjusted them to allow more clearance when shifting and now the gears are properly engaging, thanks for the input.
