Hey guys, I have read this forum for a very long time before starting the restomod of my 69 fastback...tons of great advice..you guys are the most honest opinions on what works and what doesn't..(unlike magazines..)the most expensive is not always the best..I'm building my 69 to drive 3-4 times a week..I want power RnP and aftermarket discs up front..along with proper supension for 17x8 in the front..any advice would be greatly appreciated..was trying to keep front end costs under $2500..thx:shrug:

Welcome. Some thoughts:

1. If you have read the forum a long time, did you search on any of your topics? If you did, you give no indication that you found anything....that might bear on what advice people give you here.

2. You will not get R&P + front discs + front suspension for < 2500.00

3. what brakes do you have now?

4. what does 'proper suspension' mean?

5. just street use?

Please elaborate/refine your wants, wishes, current condition of car, etc so the answers can be better tailored to your questions.

you can get close to your goal but i don't think you'll quite make it. about the best rack kit for the money would be the randalls rack kit, www.randallsrack.com as for the big brakes disc kit you're looking at around $1000 bucks at least so i think you're going to overshoot your budget by about 3-600 bucks. check out www.mustangsteve.com for a low cost 13" cobra front disc conversion. these two kits are probably going to get you closest to your goal and budget.

a little more info about plans for my car...have read a lot of threads on this and 69stang forums that recommend randalls rack as best rack for the buck.. just as bnickel had stated.. as for brakes right now the car has factory manual drums want 4 wheel power discs..as for which brakes to use..like the idea of using the M/S or randalls brackets to utilize 13 cobra parts but..what can I use in the rear that will "match" the fronts..although I wanted to stay under 2500..It is not a necessity..I ve got 20,000 to finish my car with(the money tree just bloomed)..trying to get the most bang for the buck..Ive got a long way to go..right now the car is totally stripped and I'm (with the help of friend) doing all the body repairs..after paint the next thing needs to be chasis...was considering all those fancy front end parts but many people recommended using good factory parts with roller pearches and maybe progressive springs..plan driving the car on the street 99% of the time..but plan on DRIVING it....sorry about this being so long..still new to this..
and bnickel thx for advice..have seen your name many times and you always provide great support..

My two comments would be:

1. do a search for R& P here, over the years there have been many good threads.

2. Brakes is a highly opinionated subject. The one fact is that the fronts do 75 percent of the work, so definitely pay attention to the fronts. When I used to open-track the mach, I used F-150 rear drums, like the Shelby R-models, combined with bigger discs in front, it stopped great.

Remember with the R & P, in most cases your turning circle WILL increase, so tight parking will be more of an adventure.
