Still Having Hard Time Finding Hood Pins

I put a post about 6-8 weeks ago about which hood pins people use. I only got pics of a couple, and I wasnt able to find those, so I started searching again. I was surprised at how little is out there with regard to hood pins. When I do find something it says for 2005 and up, or 67, 68, 69, or other years. Does it really matter what the year is that is listed on them?

ANyone else with pics of hood pins? I want something stainless or chrome and I was trying to avoid the cables..

The problem is I already have hood pins that have been drilled into the hood (or at least the round plate is. The pins themselves will just screw on the frame, but the round part has to fit. Im sure most will fit directly, but I just cant find much variety on Ebay or Mustang shops on the web.

I doubt those round plates are shaped to go with the shape of the hood at that specific point.

I agree that hood pins are pretty much a universal thing. If what you buy doesnt fit through your existing chrome ring, then take it off and use the ring that comes with new kit. I think most of the ring plates are the same size unless you get an odd shape. I am replacing my locking pins, because they are already getting difficult to turn... I dont recommend them. They are the same ones that 95Opal posted about. His are probably fine because its a weekend warrior, but mine is a daily driver that sees all kinds of weather and they dont turn for **** already.

Im sorry to hear the pins arent working for ya. Did you use the rubber gasket under the plates when you installed them? Although my car isnt a dd it has seen a few rain storms since the pins were installed and it definately has seen plenty of car washings. I have had no problems with the lock mechanism what so ever and the hood is opened up quite a bit, probably more than you would a dd. They appear to be just like day one.

Which ones were you looking for specifically. I had just regular Mr Gasket ones on my 88 due to a retard not latching the hood all the way before getting on the highway, which really messed things up. So mine was by necessity, not desire. They lasted for two years till I sold it but they were just plain jane locking clips with the attached cables. Only had it pinned in the front and no hood latches in the rear so it was interesting to see the hood start floating around 90. I thought I remember seeing the FRPP ones being pretty nice.

Cant find the FRPP ones. But I thought those were plain coated steel anyway, not chrome or stainless. NEver tried Mr Gasket, but Dont want ones with cables.

Even if you wanted ones with cables I wouldnt really recommend the Mr Gasket ones. They were just used in a pinch to allow me to drive. Id go with a better quality stainless setup. I was pretty sure the FRPP ones were stainless. Ill look into it.

Summit has the ford racing ones, part number - Ford Racing M-16700-A . Theyre polished stainless steel. $30

Yeah, mine look like day one, but function like they are from the stone age. I used all the peices that came in the kit, but they went from turning really easy to taking a lot of wiggling and hood shaking to get them to turn now... Maybe I overtightened the nut when I mounted the lock portion or something. I guess your car probably does get washed more than mine being a show car, so the water might not be the culprit.
