Well, I went through all the rocker arms and made sure they were snug with just enough play in them. Drove the car for about 3 minutes, and this horrible squeaking noise came back, and louder than ever today.

Am i over tightening them down? I really dont think i am? But, i can't figure out what is wrong.

If i didnt over tighten them down, will it cause my upper RPM power to lag, since the valves won't open enough?

I'm scared that i'm tightening them down too much.

Sometimes i wish i actually knew what i was doing under that hood.

Help!

I didn't catch if your cam was hydraulic or not. Assuming it is (and the cause for your concern), If you didn't get an adjusting procedure from the cam manufacturer, for an engine running adjustment, Ford shop manuals call for an additional 3/4 of a turn after zero clearance to center the lifter.

I do have hardened pushrods and guideplates.

i have CAT roller tip rockers. Not full roller rockers.

The lock nut has a bottom washer type thing that is curved where it sits in the rocker, and is flat on top. Then it has a nut that holds it down in place.
