I was always curious why my street always seems to be the last street plowed, but now I understand why. Because it IS the last one plowed.

Last night at about 9:00pm, while walking the dog, Margie and I heard the plow. When we got onto our street, a block away, we saw the plow coming in a direction away from our house towards the part of the street we were on. We were very excited and assumed he had already plowed our block and we were finally free. Then the plow passed us, turned around in the dead end behind us, and started going towards the block of the street where our house is. We watched in horror as the plow tried 4 times to make it up the hill, dumping more salt and sand each time behind itself in a futile attempt to get traction. Then it backed down the hill and went up another street, leaving our block unplowed.

The block we live on is a hill, with the top of the hill near the middle of the block. We still haven't been plowed. At least we haven't lost our power yet.

With the additional 10+" of snow and/or ice they are predicting for today and tomorrow, February is looking pretty bad for me making it into the office.

food is holding up ok. it's a 10 minute walk to the grocery store.

my yard and roof still have about 2 feet of snow on them right now. bracing for the next round. i won't be surprised if the yardstick is completely covered 24 hours from now.

and this is maryland, south of the mason-dixon line

I don't know how much weight a roof is intended to hold, but you might think about sweeping the snow off the roof. I haven't dealt with snow since I moved away from Chicago 16 years ago, but that much snow on a roof is tickling a memory somewhere.

Be glad you don't work for the airlines. If you did, you would have to get to work somehow. It's been raining all day, and it's suposed to drop to 25 degrees tomorrow. So that means I have to do my 43 mile commute tomorrow on a thin sheet of ice in the 4th worst commute in the nation during rush hour traffic.

I'm at home right now. We're getting 8-12" starting at 12, with the worst coming down from 3 to 5 PM. My boss told us to take our computers home and work from there rather then deal with driving home. Last time this happened our wise governer let ALL of the state worker's home at the same time and created one of the worst traffic jams in state history.

i stuck a yardstick in the front yard for the previous storm. the snow was at 24.5" when the snow started last night. it is now at 29. i won't be too surprised if it is completely covered by the time this one ends

i still have power tho

Yes, they rent his car to pull the planes to 156mph on the runway for take off. He's got the only one that will get up to speed quick enough. :D

LOL. Yeah, I work for the airlines unfortunately. But my Stang doesn't go anywhere near the airport. Jet farts rought your paint. My work vehicle has no problem getting up to 156 mph on it's own.

The ice was no where near as bad as I thought it was going to be this morning. They had a little ice on the east perimeter. They were waiting for a sand truck to drive up from Dublin GA. Nothing gets done in time in Atlanta.
