Stock pistions and TF stg 2 cam

Ive got a new combo going together. Its a stock short block with a trick flow stage 2 cam and some older twisted wedge heads with 1.90 and 1.60 valves. THey have 1.6 stud mount rockers. Ive heard of people saying they valves will hit the pistions? Think I could put shorter push rods in it or something to make it work? Should have the motor early this week.

Putting shorter push rods in is a bad idea. You won't get your valves adjusted properly. Some say they run the stage 2 cam no problems others say they had issues. I have never tried it so you will just have to clay the piston to valve clearence as you are building the engine.

If you or the guy putting it together have NOT clayed the pistons to check for valve clearence ..Then its any bodies guess if it will work or not.

Sometimes its not the depth that is the problem ,sometimes its the radial part of the valve that is the issue(outer edges hit).

With that kind of money in a engine a few extra hours check should be a MUST..but its not my money.
