Stock LS1 Camaro Running 12.8s???

Is it possible ....a kid i know claims his automatic LS1 Camaro has run 12.8 down at Englishtown.....before that he said it was running a 13.3 which i believe but a 12.8 from auto with only a flowmaster muffler and K&N Filter.....

It has been done in a stock 6 speed car but not by a stock auto and he certainily didnt drop hardly anything with either of those mods. Filter by itself = almost useless without a lid or free ram air mod, flowmaster muffler is garbage. If he ran 13.3's before, he still runs 13.3's now more than likely.

Probably... those cars have been known to go low low 13s, and even dip into the 12s untouched. Add a lid and catback and sure, high 12s seems believable. Especially at etown.

The stock record is held by a 6 speed car and there is usually a pretty good difference between the 6 speed and auto stock. Now a converter or gear in the auto throws all of that out the window. A Lid and a catback is alot different than just a filter and a flowsmasher muffler.

i've heard though that the auto tranny in the LS1s is awesome....in comparison to a stock AOD or AOD-E. I think he is just bsing....but i definitely know for a fact he ran 13.3, but the 12.8s are total

If by awesome you mean pretty weak, then sure lol. It's a 4L60E they have been using since 94 in the F-Bodys. Like any auto, with a converter and gear it can run faster ET's than a stick car but stock for stock it's a bit slower.

He's actually trying to sell his car so he can buy an '03 Cobra but def doesnt deserve one.....i give him two weeks with an 03 cobra before he raps it around a tree he drives like an a$$hole..

Lid+exhaust+good set of tires=12s. I don't think he is in the 12s, but low 13s sound right.

I don't doubt it could run a 12.8 with just those mods. The autos in the LSx cars are no joke. He might be bsing you but if you knew he ran a 13.3 completely stock and added those mods it is possible.

12.7 with a 6 speed has been done BONE STOCK... i think thats the record... but with a auto... im sure he is at 13.3 like he says... those two mods wouldnt get him in the 12's

my brother ran a 13.2 in his ls1 bone stock with nothing in it at all when he first got it. its a 6spd also.

Thats true, I read into as a lid/catback car. A friend of mine had a very fast minor bolt on LS1, and now with a cam the car is an animal.

an LS1 could do that , they get power out of miner mods, am not sure about the 12.8s, but i know that a stock AOD LS1 with catbacks and a air duction mod took out a 05 mustang.

with a dynojet or a programer, they could be sutup to make better firmer shifts on that stock AOD, and with 3.73 they get off the edge, I HATE LS1 because how powerful they are and can be after mods.. i dont see it very strange for an LS! to do that with such mods...

LS1s don't have AOD's.

Well since this car didnt have 3.73's or a catback mentioned it's pretty strange. Especially considering it ran 13.3's before. The LS1 stock RECORD is a 6 speed and ran a 12.7.

What would a dynojet do to make power?
