Straight Pipes or Prochamber --gains?

Before i start i'd just like to say i did a search but came up with nothing of use.

Alright my buddy has a 98 GT bone stock except for straight pipes and it sounds a million times better than i expected. In fact if my car will sound the same I think im going to do it. Now heres where you guys come in. Supposing my car has the factory H will straight pipes on a 98 and a 2000 sound the same? I dont know what difference the heads make as far as sound goes.

I ordered an O/R prochamber but it hasn't been shipped yet so i can cancel the order at any time. Obviously straight pipes and an O/R H or X is going to sound like **** so if i get the prochamber im not going to straight pipe it.

The straight pipes would likely be temporary anyways but its an option, theres no emission testing here and cops are generally very supportive towards v8s with exhaust.

What would the gain be with straight pipes, if at all, i've read somewhere that straight pipes will actually reduce power. Anyways, if you had the pick, which would you go for. Straight pipes(IE muffler delete) or a Prochamber, I haven't heard to many exhaust clips with the prochamber (used mustangexhaust.com). Anyone have any sound files, or opinions on the prochamber??? Im trying to make a bargain between hp and sound. What catback/mufflers would you recommend with a prochamber, im trying for a unique v8 growl. I love the tone of the stock exhaust, it just needs to be a lot louder, so i can actually hear the exhaust and not the noise of the motor winding up.

If you like the sound of the 98', you'll like how yours sounds even better. Straight pipes will move your torque peak up a little higher in the RPM's [thus reducing your low end ] and you may gain a couple hp higher up.

Ive got a stock H and straight pipes. It actually sounds alot better than I thought it would also. I knew the car had exhaust on it before I bought it, but when I looked and saw it had no mufflers I was suprised. It is kinda rhaspy at times, but its deep deep deep.

Yeah and its really quiet at idle too, not annoying at cruising speeds either which is very important to me (on the highway for probably 80% of my driving).

I dont know though, when you tell someone you have straight pipes you might not get the same reaction as "Yea, I got a prochamber and a Borla catback."
Deep is key, i think i might go the way of prochamber and catback just because I hate the idea of having 4 restrictive cats.

So do you think i'd be happy with the sound of a prochamber and a stock catback??? It sucks not having even an idea of what it will sound like. I've heard o/r h-pipes and stock mufflers and i think its a beautiful exhaust note, just im not sure on the tone the prochamber will produce. It'd be at least a little while before i got the full catback.

Prochambers are really tame untill you hit the gas. I know someone with a catless Prochamber and Magnapacks, and its not loud untill he steps on it, then all hell breaks loose instantly.

My straight pipes are almost the same way. They are a little louder, but idle is not bad, as is cruising. No drone either. Let it rip and it sounds like a screaming banshee.

prochamber had definate SotP gains in the low end, sounds great too.

So far I've had the stock exhaust, flowmaster 40s, and now SLPs on it. Sounded great with all combos.

yeh mines the prochamber O/R setup with magnapacks and its quiet until ya get on it, then it screams. i like it that way too. i wouldnt want it loud at idle. ill have some sound clips sometime this week. PM me if ya wanna hear it and ill start a post.

I have the prochamber with the stock bullitt catback, which is different than a stock gt, and it sounds quite deep, not too loud, and almost NO drone, at about 1800-2000rpms, but NOTHING to worry about. I personally like the way it sounds because i've never heard something like it before. The bullitt catback was on no other ford, so it's kinda hard to compare them. If you rev it up to about 5k rpms it will give a nice off road gurgle sound. :D
