Street-strip 5-point harness and seats

Guys,

I'm ready to bite the bullet and install a good 5 point harness and a nice set of seats with a submarine belt provision.
Looking for:
- something comfortable enough for 1-2 hour drives. Still a street car, even if it is drag-oriented.
- I'm 6'3" and sit all the way back against the bar so I guess a fixed-back is ok.
- This is a forever car, I don't mind making a quality purchase that will last.
- Cloth! I don't like vinyl/leather/suede
- have roll cage to mount to
- Would be cool to be able to keep the stock belts for easy street use, but not mandatory

I don't know if there are any NHRA or other sanctioning body rules that impact or limit seat & belt choices. Does anyone have any experience or recommendations?

Just aesthetically speaking, I like the look of the Corbeau A4(adjustable) and Forza(fixed) style seats, but don't know if they're comfy or how they hold up long-term:

We are the same height but I'm 285. I love seats like those but even the wide version is way too narrow for me. I'm curious to see what you choose and what fits. Following along!

Crow harnesses with the cam lock got my vote for sure.

As far as seats I’m tough . I still have 03 cobra seats in my car because I can’t see going to a fixed seat and being uncomfortable . I have known to sit laid back a bit compared to others driving styles .

If I had to do it it would most likely be a Kirkey but I’m not in love with the Corbeau . Bride makes some cool seats too

Kirkey pro street seet,black cloth cover. Right after I bought mine,the seat design changed. (cheaper)
RCI seat brackets (very adjustable)
Comp engineering seat back brace.
The padding in the cover was pretty thin. After a few months,i added some foam,the comfort increase was dramatic.

I appreciate the cam lock recommendation. I'm pretty sure those are the kind that we use in our birds in the army. Nice for the quick and 1-handed release.

I took a really close look at the Kirkey Pro Streets. I sized one up and almost ordered one. I love the price, but ultimately I really dislike the way they look. It also looks like there's no separation for the shoulder belts. At the moment, I'm looking at the sparco Pro 2000. Good looking, and very comfortable looking, with adjustable levels of padding and an adjustable lumbar support.

Have not yet reviewed the bride seats, but I will before I make a decision.

Went through this when I put the roll bar in the 82. I used RCI harnesses. I originally mounted the lap belts to their supplied eye bolts through the floor with reinforcement plates underneath. Passed tech about five years ago, but failed last years. Track guy said the lap belts had to go to the frame, so they are now bolted to the original seat belt anchorages. I kept the stock belts, both on the same bolt. I the track wants, I will remove the stock ones to race. I kept the stock seat to avoid having to install a seat rear brace to the cross bar. The crotch strap can go down in front of the stock seat, and I used a Wolf Racecraft bracket that connects to the two front seat mounting bolts/frame for it.

All in all, I want the stock belts for normal driving, the five pt is a pita to put on, and I am not comfortable stuck in on position in normal driving.

Exactly. I was hoping to keep the stock belts & the 5 point harnesses. I didn't even think the stock belt bolts or the seat mount bolts were tied into the frame, though. The shoulder straps will bolt to my cage cross bar, and that's about all I've figured out to this point. I do not plan to remove the stock belts, but I don't know if their bolts are the way to go or not. Have you already teched it or been told that's acceptable by techs?

Does the seat back brace have to bolt to the seat, or does the back of the seat just have to sit flush with it?

get it mounted to the cage and they can get it back pretty far and pretty low. the issue i have with most seats sitting too high is my helmet hits the roof.

hell even with the kirkey in my car my helmet hits the cage (dont ask... cage might have to come out and redone)

I had Sparco seats and 5 point harness in my 89 convertible with 10 point cage. The seats harnesses have a date on them and a cert level. The seat has to be bolted to the brace and shoulder straps to the cage. My ball strap went to a bar that bolted between the front attachment points. Hip straps went to factory locations. A couple friends bolt to the rear seat mount locations. Those bolts go through to the seat reinforcement plates on the sub frame connectors.

The last year my straps failed tech because of age. Seats also nearly failed. At the time Sparco still sold fiberglass molded seats which became a no go. I believe it had something to do with flame resistance...but not sure. Been a long time since I read a rule book.

Same boat here. I want something that reclines like a factory seat though. Apparently many years ago there was a "Synkro" seat that did all that, but it has since been discontinued.
