My father and I just bought a 88 coupe that we are building to be somewhat of a sleeper. We want to keep the stock hood if possible and we want to build a stroker, but if we do itll be a 408W. With tubular K members and A arms the motor should drop about an inch, will this motor fit with out a cowl? And do you think the power gain is worth it for the money with a 408 or is a used super charger the way to go? It already has H/C/I, exhaust, TB, and every other bolt on you can think of for the engine and the chasis. Any suggestions?

how about doing both? my 331 with a victor jr intake, nitrous plate, 750 carb on energy motor mounts clears the stock hood with the stock k member and i still have a hands width between the carb horn and the hood! But since you are doing a 351 based stroker your deck height is going to be about a inch and half higher which should be offset by the new k member so....in theory you will be ok but you may have to run a recessed air filter like i do......(one wher the baseplate of the air filter drops down below the carb) and if you are staying with a dual plain intake then you should have even more clearance!

Its gonna still be EFI so the aircleaner wont effect the deck height. It will have to be one or the other. We are on a budget and if we do the stroker, I have a Compucar wet kit that might be put to use for the track

Supercharged it won' really be a sleeper. The "squeeky belt" excuse most people won't buy. A stroker though nobody will be able to tell unless they start doing test and such. A 351W with "drop mounts" which are solid will fit under the stock hood.

I would personally do a stroker before i do any power adder....that way you have a better foundation down the road if you do put a blower on it.
