Stud/Pedestal mounting ... huh?

Would someone mind describing the difference between stud and pedestal mounting and maybe posting pics of the both?

I am starting my researching heads for my combo and I don't know squat about this stuff, among lots of other things ...

get stud mount, they are much easier to adjust! just ask killercanary.

You can see some studs up close and personal on my site.

Once you get the geom set .................

You can run them with ..........

no or little preload ... noisey but a tad more power
more preload ... more quiet but a tad less power

and

no shim or different length pr is needed to take advantage of that wide range of adjustment.

Grady, thanks. I'm actually thinking 1.6" Scorpions are the direction I'm going too. I'll probably try to go with just enough preload to try to keep the noise to a minimum.

mootang, yes I read one of Paul's posts saying to definately go with stud mounted. That was when I realized I had no clue what the differences were.
