My car likes to buck a little, but only in 5th gear & only while cruising at normal speed down the road. If I jump on it it will go away, but come back when I go back to normal cruising. Again, it only does this in 5th gear.

Any ideas?

What's your RPM when this is happening? Since you didn't provide the necessary information, I'm gonna say that Snake1 is probably correct. The gear you're in make no difference at all but if you're cruising down the road at 60 MPH in 5th gear then what do ya think might cause the bucking? lol

I would suspect the spark plug wires, maybe the plugs themselves, maybe the injectors (run some injector cleaner). Pull the distributor cap off and inspect the cap and rotor for wear. Make sure there are no carbon tracks or moisture on the inside. Start the car in total darkness (give your eyes time to adjust) and watch for sparks jumping on each wire and the entire ignition system. Also watch out for the fan and other moving parts. You could run a Key On Engine Running balance test with the aid of the computer. http://www.corral.net/tech/maintenance/eecivtest-balance.html

Hope this helps.

Hopefully it is that simple. I am replacing the plugs, wires, dist cap & rotor anyway this month so I will see if it does it after I change all that stuff.
