i was in need of tranny fluid so i stopped by a shop right next to where i work, i had 20 mintues to blow before work so i decided to stay. While someone was attending my tranny another guy ask me were i got my tailpipes put on, he pointed out that since my tail pipes were smaller in diameter to my muffler that i was losing horsepwer. i taught bs to myself but i always end up doubting myself..........

i doubt there is much hp bieng lost if your h-pipe is a 2 1/4 to a 2 1/2 muffler back down to a 2 1/4 tail pipe. but if the rest of the exhaust has been upgraded to 2 1/2 there could be some lost

On a mostly stock mustang, 2 1/2" pipes are worth about 1 hp over 2 1/4. On a high horsepower car it is a whole other story...
