I'm about to get a set of mm subframe connectors and I was wondering can I use an arch welder to weld them in? Also I have a lift but it has posts not a drive on. Can I use it to weld them in or not?

I would prefer Stick (arc) welding them over any other method.. Better penetration
Use some 3/32" 7018

I would definitely not want to install them without a drive on lift

You really need the vehicle to be at rest

If it's lifted any other way the body will be flexed to some degree and that will become the new stance once the subframes are welded in

Well what could I put under the wheels to hold it up and get under it to weld it?

I don't know of any way that would be as effective

You may just have to pay someone with a drive on lift to do the job

Cost me $60.00 a few years ago

use 4 tall jackstands and put 2 on the back axle, and one on each of the front control arms to mimic the car sitting on the ground??

And how do you know with certainty that one side or corner isn't higher/lower or somewhere other than where it should be if it was sitting on the ground

If it were my car I would just do it the correct way

actually even a little bit off can flex the chassis, then you weld reinformcent permenmentaly flexing teh chassis which can lead to uneven tire wear, allignment issues and basicly a ruined mustang.

your call.

I paid the local Meineke 40 bucks to do it on their lift. I don't screw around with chassis things, because I don't understand them well enough.

I did mine in the garage...

two jackstands under the axle and 2 jachstands on the frame rails jsut under the front of the doors... the whole nose flexed down doing htis therefore straightening it out... Doing this fixed my door gaps....

For welding I used a MIG with fluxcore wire. Not the neatest but they are holding up good so far...

Well in a way it is seeing how our cars stay attached to the ground. Just saw a car with subs put on wrong, it had been driver a couple years and when they tried a wheel alignment one side couldn't be brought into specs.

I'll probably just take it to a muffler shop I need to get my mufflers welded on anyway.
