Looking to add gears to a stock 91 convertible. I doubt it’d see track time. If it does, it’ll be years down the line. Think I’ll be fine just doing gears, clutches and bearings? Or should I look into doing more?

What gears do you have in there now? 2.73's, or the optional 3.08's/3;27's (depending on trans).

AOD or 5-spd?
I’m guessing 2:73’s. She’s pretty sluggish. I can check if it matters.

I plan to go with 3:73 gears with new clutches and bearings.

It’s currently an aod, but I have a tkx on the bench waiting to go in. That’ll probably be thanksgiving week though.

Rebuilding the t-loc ,new bearings, gears and axle bearings and seals should do the trick. that's my 2 cents, keep the change you filthy animal...…(from home alone)

I would go with the 3.73s if you stick to AOD. If the TKX is 2.95 first gear, likely still 3.73s, if 3.35 first gear I would go 3.55s (for a street cruiser).

I’ve been 10.86 at 3408 with a stick with a cobra 31 spline trac loc. moser 31s with c clips . That’s still what’s in the car now .

I’m planning on a strange s trac , 35s and 9 inch ends eventually . The current setup has been great and together for years and seen it’s fair share of launches and power shifting on the street
