Summit And Other Performer Rpm Air Gap Intake "knock Offs"

I've been seeing a lot of RPM air gap "knock off" intakes on ebay and even Summit offers one. They are cheap compared to the "real deal". Has anyone had any experiece w/ these intakes. If so how is the quality of the casting and machining and would it be worth spending the dough to get one. I suspect that the quality is low.

I don't have the air gap but I have the knock off version of the performer rpm. I can't really tell you if its any better or worse...my car wasnt really built for high performance, but reliability. I have had it on for two years now and it has been great. I got a polished version for less than a regular rpm. So I.guess if you just want a four barrels intake that works and looks good then this will contour great. As far as performance goes I would probably spend the extra 75 bucks

I actually have the Performer RPM i got it when they first came out. I was lookin at the air gap (or a knock of due to prices) because the carb likes to percolate in the Texas heat. I migt try blocking off th heat risers first though. That is a cheaper alternative.

Get you a 4 hole spacer, that will help too. Aluminum is the cheapest, but wood or phelonic (plastic) is better. I'm in Louisiana and have the same brutal humid heat, I don't have any issues, but I also don't have any congested roads to travel, not sure what your driving situation is. Make sure your fuel lines are not laying up next to the block as well, I have also seen people put a couple of coils in the fuel line to act as a little cooler for the fuel (also to have more volume of fuel ready if the motor outran the pump at High RPM's) this would also help if vapor lock became a problem, especially in drag racing applications.
