I bought their catback exhaust and it came today.
Looked pretty decent, cept all the piping was covered in oil/grease.

Turns out nothing fits at all...
The pipes that are supposed to slide into the mufflers are the same size tubing as the mufflers... WTF

So I had to stretch the muffler inlet/outlet and grind the other pipes to get them to fit.

Then the tail pipes arent bent right and hit the suspension and undercarriage...

I spent over 3 hours trying to get one side of the exhaust right and its still messed up.

:fuss: :Damnit: :fuss: :Damnit: :fuss:

Ouch, sounds like a misreprensentation if they claimed it was a bolt on kit, I'd call them, most likely they wont let you send it back since it has been modified

I mean out of the box it looks nice. And looks like it will fit.

Till you start putting it on the car... I sent them an email.

Are other brands any better?

Summit definately wasnt worth the $189
For another 100 bucks you coulda had alot of choices of well made systems.

Summit Sucks....thats all i have to say. I bought a set of SRP pistons from them for my engine build....480 dollar pistons and they sent me stock bore pistons with chevy wrist pins....instead of the 0.030 overbore! When the rotating assembly was out at the balancer...he found that some of the pistons were over 10 grams off from the others!!!! I also bought some rockers from them that had pushrod caps that were too small for even stock pushrods to fit into and not a single cap was sqaurely seated in the rocker!!! then it took me a ton of time on the phone with them to get my shipping costs back! Summit is no good man....stay away if you can help it...honestly its not worth the 10 dollar savings!

I wish I had $100 extra bucks. Im $1800 in debt as it is...

Summit sells good product. But I guess I should have went with a major brand when looking at exhausts. I mean some things dont have to fit perfect, but the exhaust does...

Anyone wanna donate an old catback?

i hope i fare better, my summit o/r h pipe arrives tomorrow. But for an h-pipe it seems you'd really have to be stupid not to be able to make it correctly. I sure hope everything lines up fine, or i will call up summit and let em have it. But so far i have been very happy with them, great prices and FAST shipping :) Goodluck fabbing that exhaust on :(

My summit o/r H-pipe I got about 3 years ago fits great. I have never had a problem with summit. I actually went to their new distribution center her in GA today, its only a couple miles down the street from me.

Maybe this is new problem, because my friend ordered a Summit exhaust kit and it fit perfect. I helped him install it, and it was a lot easier than other kits I know of.

The one for 89-93 mustangs?

It shows hangers welded on the tail pipes, but there isnt anything welded. Just stupid bolt on brackets that look like crap.

You would think some of the pipes would be stepped so they could slide together... Nope. So I gotta stretch some of the tubing and shrink other parts...

crapola

Definately going to get a "good" exhaust when I get the $$$

Seems like it is hit or miss with summit made products. I have heard many stories with their product. I thought shipping was free from summit?? am I wrong on this??

My summit h-pipe is crap. Doesn't fit real well at all. Where the tube on the driver's side goes up and meets with the header is cut about 2-3" too long so one side hangs lower than the other. I called to send it back and I couldn't because I had already fired up the motor and they said they couldn't resale it. I asked why they would won't to resale a part that doesn't fit properly and got many walk around answers. Makes me wonder how many time the h-pipe had been shipped to other people before it found me....

Yeah me too...
I just hope I dont have to cut anything. Since I dont have anything to cut the exhaust with...

Started it up this morning and you can hear the muffler hitting the bottom of the car...
I look underneath and one of the mufflers is dripping around the seams...
So much for no exhaust leaks.
