I'm putting a vortech on my 01 GT this weekend. I keep reading that to put a blower on any engine, I will need to build the bottom end. But the majority of people that have blowers don't seem to have that done when I read their sig's. Who has put a blower on their stang and not forged the internals? Have you guys had any problems yet? My current mods are, cams, mac catted pro chamber, american thunder flo's, H & R super sport springs, bilstein shocks and struts. Thanks for the info.

I ran as much as 440 rwhp on the stock bottom end for 7k miles and never had a problem. That's pushing it big time.

Motor can go boom any time with a blower though.

Most important thing to remember is to throw vortech's tune in the trash and have someone tune the car themselves on a dyno.

What do I need to build the bottom end, and how much will it cost? Thanks

a good tune will keep you from blowing up, but it probably will happen over time. Forged crank, pistons, rods, bearings, oil pump, rings, and gaskets. Figure about $3K for everything.

Where'd you get it from? And what kind of compression ratio did it come with? All forged internal? Thanks.

Stock internals on a 2v can handle up to 450hp. With that particular blower you should have no problems.

Edit: I could have sworn you said you were putting an S-trim. Either way you should have no problem so long as you aren't running too much psi. 9psi >= is perfect.

22,000 miles........and no probs......400hp.....big thing to remember is if you get on it really hard through the gears....(track racing.....or "street") give it some time to cool !!

I have about 15,000 miles on the stock motor. I run the car every week at the track. No problems. A good tune is the key.

I am running 7psi through a Kenne Bell and have had 0 problems thus far. Balding tires, that is about it, but I like it.
