Guy I know has a 96 Gt automatic with around 90,000 miles. Right now, he has o/r H-pipe, Flowmasters, cold air intake, and 4:10s.

He wants to supercharge it, and add headers and a chip to total it out. Now the car has been driven...somewhat hard atleast since hes gotten it, which is like I believe the last..6k or 7k miles. I'm telling him to rebuild his engine because at 90k miles, you wouldn't think it would last too long with the abuse it has had and the abuse it will get. This just seems logical to me, but I could be wrong. Anyone have an idea on this?

Also on a side note, with a supercharger, should he consider changing his gears out to 3:73 or something like that? How well do superchargers and 4:10s work?

Thanks

I would do engine work... bore and stroke it and make your hp goals AND get a new engine... and skip the supercharger until a later date. Cams bored and stroked higher compression and you can make "enough" power AND have a new engine that wouldn't crap out on you.

You can put a blower on a high mile car. but a rebulid would be a good way to go and the safe one to. But if you can't hold out then go for it keep in mind as long as you don't drive your car at WOT. Then your not makeing any boost at all. Centrifugal blowers bon't make power till 3,500rpm and that at WOT. Even Root blower will not kick in till you step on the gas hard. So ya a high mile motor can take boost safely but a rebulid would be nice.
