Ive recently been debating on weather or not to get a blower. I have a few concerns though that will affect my final desicion. The first question is what brand and what model should I go with? I want to gain only about 80 RWHP because the car is a DD. Also what would I need to upgrade in the drivetrain to handle this kind of extra power? Basically is the weekest point in the stock drive train? How much is 80 extra ponies going to affect the life of my engine? Id like to at least get 100k out of it if possible. Any other suggestions or comments are also appriciated.

The stock internals can handle about 370-400WHP, which is about 10lbs of boost. If you want just 80 more horses to the wheels, I would go with a nitrous kit. I say this because most supercharger kits out there will produce more than 80WHP for you car. With a supercharger, nitrous, or turbo's, your car can last well past 100k miles as long as the car is properly tuned. What ever you do, make sure you have a reputable shop tune your car when you are done installing the supercharger/nitrous/turbo.

As far as supercharger kits, I would recommend the mongoose vortech kit from www.modularpowerhouse.com . The kit cost's about $3700, but the tune is included. Tim's tune is almost dead on. Like I said though, this kit will get you in the 360-400WHP range, and I don't know if you want that much power. Many other people go with the novi2000 or kenne bell superchargers as well. And some go with the procharger kit.

You should be able to bolt on any entry level blower kit and make it well past 100k. Make sure your fuel system is up to par and that you have the corect tune. You would probably need to upgrade your clutch eventually. You may also need bigger injectors- a lot of kits come with an FMU but I would recommend an injector upgrade. Actually some kits include them....the S-trim that I used to have on my Cobra came with a chip and 42lb injectors. Don't be afraid of a blower. You'll love it!

well a real good kit is the mongoose kit form MPH you have your choice of either the vortech or novi2K. But for the power you are looking for the vortech kit is more along the lines, you will be able to maintain alot of DD with it as long as you dont get into boost often and expect about over 100hp with it

Thanks for all the replys, 100RWHP wouldn't be out of my range. I can never have TOO much horsepower. Im not really into nitrous because I don't want to fill up the tank all the time. I want the power there everytime the car is running. I see the mongoose kit is a centrifugal type blower , what are the pros and cons of this type? Also this would be my first supercharger installation, how long could I expect this to take me? 1-2 days?

the benefits of a centri style S/C is that you can maintain driveability if you dont get on the gun constantly and starts making power form mid to high rpms......most people will tell you to go with the KB which gives you power through out the entire rpm range but its real pricey

i have the novi 2k mongoose kit on mine. install time was about 8 hours with me and a buddy working on it. my car has 375 rwhp and can still be used as a DD. i actually gained 2 mpg with the blower. the only downside to having a centri charger is that the boost doesnt start coming in until around 3200 rpm and you have to punch your oil pan (unless you go w/ procharger) for a drain line. it is an easy job so dont worry about it.

Awsome i think ill go with the mongoose kit. You talked about tapping into the oil pan for a drain line. I take it you have to remove the pan after to get all the shavings out correct?

nope you use a pointed center punch to punture/perforate the pan and then move to a larger one to expand the hole not needed to drill that way there wont be metal shavings

I'd go with a regular Vortech S trim blower kit. It's one of the best all around blowers on the market and will give you room to grow and be reliable for a daily driver. Mine has been on my 2000GT for over 4 years with no problems to date and has been a daily driven.

Here we go again :D . Everything depends on what you want out of it. As a DD i would go for a KB kit. That's why i bought mine. You have the power right there at your feet when you want it. No lag, no building rpm. It is more expensive than a Centirfugal kit like the Vortech. Nothing wrong with the Vortech. I would have boughten a Vortech YSI blower had they made one last year for our cars. It's good up to 1000HP. They came out with a RR YSI this year for the 4.6 :( .
