Just wondering what are everybodys thoughts of going with ati intercooled and a boost retard with my combo right now without the pms would it hurt anything? I defentily plan on getting a pms but that's another $900, maybe in a few more months I could get it but right now I have the money for just the procharger kit. Also should I go with the 42psi injectors instead of the 30psi's and a fmu? Any help is appreciated, thanks

Injectors are not measure in "psi" they are measured in lbs (pounds) or lbs/hr. You did not say how much boost you intend to run (that's pretty important). You will not be able to reliably run 42 injectors without a custom tune of some sort. The amount of gas that comes from a 42 lb injector given the same pulsewidth as a 30 lb injector is HUGE. A tune is required to correct for the differences in pulsewidth, break point, min time/length to open/close, etc. Regardless of what you do with fuel pressure, the larger injectos will be off throughout the powerband without something to tell the EEC how to deal with injectors of that size.

The 30s and FMU methos will be no better unless you're planning on either a wide-band 02 meter with the means to adjust the AFR mechanically --or-- a custom tune to adjust AFR electronically.

About the only way you might possibly get away with what you're trying to do is by running less than 6 psi from that blower (providing the tune you've got right now is very good) but even that is no guarantee. You should really consider holding off on the install until you can afford to get the combination properly tuned.

Even 6 psi and blow up a motor.

I'm planning on running 11psi currently I don't have a tune just stock computer, I guess I'll just wait until I get the money for the pms. But then should I run the 42's or keep the 30's?

Run the 42s, by all means. You also need to plan for a wideband in your costs as well. the tuner alone will do you no good if you don't know what you're tuning to.

It will take some patience and a desire to learn to use the system you're planning on running. The PMS is relatively easy to use compared to some of the other offerings out there, but it's also not quite as versitile. Using a PMS and 42s will still require that you have your meter calibrated for 42 lb injectors.

Another option may be to just have your car dynotuned. The chip will cost you roughly $600 with a tune and subsequent tune will run approx $100. This method will take all the guess work out. If you're not planning to make constant upgrades, it's the simplest and probobly most econmical method. If you're planning for more and more mods as you go that will require continuous changes to the tune, then a TwEECer or PMS will be more economical.

Tuning isn't something that can just be bolted on and settled within an hour. It will require that you make lots of data-logs, be able to interpret the information in those data-logs, then choose the best method and proper use of available scalers to adjust that tune so that tuning variables are where they're supposed to be. It's all quite a process, regardless of how easy to use the tuner is that you've chosen to run.

If you dont plan on taking the blower off later i would just get it dyno tuned. I would use the 42lb injectors. I have the P600B on my car. I got it tuned and got a remote optimizer instead of a chip. That cost me about $600.

I wouldnt get a PMS either...Honeslty they are too much money for what you can get with a Tweecer RT for 500 bucks. The learning curve with the tweecer is a little steeper but the tuning cababilities are better IMO. You will most definately need a wideband, so for 750 bucks you could have a tuner and a wideband and the tweecer has a 5 position selector where you can store up to 5 different tunes on the ECU that you can change and modify on the fly! U just need a laptop and the willingness to do some research and learn the technology.

Also i think FMU's are not the best way to go...definately go with the 42's and never worry about it again b/c you cant tune it with the computer! I know that the next 750 bucks i have to toss around will go right to a tweecer and wideband. My buddy and i tested their new software package almost a year ago and its fairly easy to work with. good luck man

You will have to tune no matter what unless you really enjoy replacing head gaskets. You can start out with just a wideband and making minor adjustments using timing and fuel pressure. This will not be a perfect tune, but it will definatly get you closer than nothing at all. Also, yes, go with the 42s. So to sum up, start with the wideband, then go for either a tweecer or get a megasquirt standalone. Either way, you will need a wideband no matter what method of tuning you go with. And as we all know, the mods never end. So paying for a tune now is kinda of a waste because it will just need to be changed time and time again.

Yea I've been sitting here 2 hours about to go crazy figuring out which way I should go. I've just about ruled out the dynotune because it seems like a waste because I know I'll change somthing then it's no good. Have you had any experience with just tuning with the wideband? It's so expensive with the procharger kit then a pms then a wideband, I would like to be able to get the ati kit and a wideband just to start off, because it's a pretty big upgrade and alot of money. If I could get a small tune in the ball park with out hurting anything I'd be happy.Anymore info?

SUPERCHARGING WITHOUT TUNING? Isn't that a little like a wedding without the Bride? Not much fun and you definitely won't be getting all you hoped for...
