If your idol is surging try pumping your brakes quikly. If it levels out as long as you're pumping the brakes then its time to start checking hoses. Because you my friend have a vacuum leak.

I didnt mean to fix it!! I had a pinging problem,,about a month and a half ago I got a 75mm Pro-M maf,,when I put it in ,the car ran like sh@t!!Someone told me to twist the entire unit 90 degrees.I turned it 45 degrees and it ran better so I left it like that.But I had a pinging problem on the highway.Then I remembered I was supposed to turn it 90! ( a few weeks went by before I did it ) When I did it, it ran great,no more pinging,and it felt like I picked up 5 hp!! And in the process,the surging stopped. Woo-La
