Suspension Comfort - What springs to get?

Hi Guys,

I currently have TOKICO D-Specs and H&R Super-Sports on my car. I love how the car is lowered about 1.7" all around, but I hate the ride roughness.

With the D-specs even at the softest setting it is REALLY rough.

I'm been looking to change springs now, and I'd like to hear everyone's opinion here as to what to get.

Again, I need something that will maintain that 1.5-1.7" drop. But I need the MOST confortable spring that exists at that ride height.

What do you guys recommend?

So far, my research tells me that the softest springs are:
- FRPP F Springs
- Suspension Techniques Springs

Is there something softer at that level of drop? What to you guys use?
Anyone here with D-Specs can chime in?

are you running isolators? you're car looks fairly slammed in your sig, makes a big difference in ride


i have H&R Sports (with isolators) on my car with Bilsteins and the ride is comparable to stock. i've been putting off suspension work for years since this is my dd and i want it comfy but i couldn't be more happy, in fact the drop wasn't what i was expecting and i might switch over to the Super Sports if these don't settle more

i have H&R race springs and tokico blue shocks and struts. i LOVE the ride. verycomfortable and it wont break the bank

Ok then maybe I don't have H&R's? (something harsher?)
My car feels like a shopping cart.

I have Tokico D-specs on the SOFTEST setting.
I have the isolators in there and they're definately sitting in properly.

The d-specs are brand new. What else could be causing the roughness?

The springs I have I'm pretty certain are H&R Super Sports.
The car is lowered about 1.8"-2".

The springs are blue.

I have Roush springs that lower it 1.5" it corners great and seems to transfer weight well (haven't tried the track yet) but it rides like a lumber wagon, very stiff. Women don't like riding in my car on surface roads LOL... so I am looking to change too.

Has anyone tried the Tokico lowering springs made for the D-Sec shocks & struts?

If the ride is killing you, you should look into some dropped front spindles. A manufacturer (Racecraft.com) makes them with a 2" drop. They are about $500/pair but it's cheaper than a kidney transplant! For the rear end someone else makes some pricey LCA's with adjustable spring mounts for height. If I was doing a radical 2" drop, I would use these components in a heartbeat. It's just as expensive as purchasing aftermarket springs, camber plates, bumpsteer kits, realignments, etc. but the ride will be MUCH better.

Ride comfort, price and ground clearance are the main reasons I went with used $60.00 Mach 1 springs with a 1/2" drop.

I have FRPP B springs and blisteins. My ride is actually better then stock now and to me at the perfect height. I got about a 1" or so drop all around and she handles great.

I went with the Ford Racing C Springs. I was afraid of getting a truck ride becasue I use this car for my outside sales work and did not want to get beat up drivng it as much as I do. I did change them after driving a Used convertible Mustang I spotted at Ford dealer and faked like I was interested in buying it. I drove on a 45 mph, kind of bumpy road, and on some twisty's. I was amazed that it actually road smoother than my stock 97 GT. I thought it was a placebo effect but then I drove my stock Stang over the same route and I could not believe the difference. I ordered them as soon as I could just to get a better ride. It dropped it low enough that I could not use Automatic car washes anymore and speed bumps were sometimes a hassle scraping my H pipe. They say they only drop by 1 1/4 front and 1" rear. They are Progressive 250-300 rear and Linear front at 650. I think this combo smooths the rearend from jostling around and the high rate front keeps it all flat and planted. The car just felt much more controlled and more smooth feeling. Huge thumbs up on these!!!

car looks a little low in the pic but its actually not , but its not sitting on a level parking lot , the gravels in my driveway have some high and low places

Cool! How do these compare with the FRPP F springs?
Are the F taller or lower? More comfortable or harsher?

yea I am kinda in rural VA so some of the roads are not that great , I got the prokit because its lower than stock , but not in the dirt ........ here is a couple pics of a 98 cobra with H&Rs that I tuned 3rd car down , blue cobra
