T-5 ID queston?????

Ok, all wanted to do is replace a cracked bellhousing on my newly aquired '88.

Well as we all know, once the trans is out of the car......Hmmm. New Clutch kit, TO bearing, Pilot Bearing, rear main seal, lca's and Uca's and might as well throw on a steel retainer while I'm at it.

Before I took the trans out, I had looked at the part # on the case of the trans 13-52-065 and thought "ok, It's out of an 84 GT and has the 2.95 first gear. not a world class but I can live with that till it gives out."

Well I took the retainer off today to put the new one on, got the bearing out to install in the new retainer and it's too BIG! WTF. The bearing is a larger diameter than the opening on the new retainer. It's too late to get hold of LMR today to see if maybe they sent the wrong retainer (it has no part #'s on it).

The point of my question is I decided to take a second look at the #'s on the trans. I was correct on the #'s cast into the case. 13-52-065. But the tag says something different. They read

E7ZR-7003-AA REP-AP d0591

13-52-162 130608

E7 Means to me its an 87 trans and the 13-52-162 means it came out of a 87 4cyl with a 3.97 first gear. That's not funny, I'm not in the mood to buy another tranny.

Does that trans have a different size bearing in the retainer? If I remove the cover is there anything i can look at to identify which trans this really is?
