its not hard to do id change it... jsut becareful removing it... i did mine... i walked it in with a 3/8's extention and a seal remover/instalation tool...

Do you not have to drop the crankshaft any to change the rear main seal on a SBF?
Yeah, the teflon seal is supposed to be a pita to put on....guess I'll find out about that tomorrow when I do mine. luckily my engine is out the car though.
Yea what everyone else said. The carpet trick works great. Also, when putting the tranny back up, be careful and take your time. I've spent a painful half hour (by myself) holding up the tranny lining it up to get it back in to the disk once. However the other time it went up and in on the first shot. It helps to try and roughly line up the splines on the input shaft w/ the clutch disk before you lift the tranny and try to put it back on. And/or if you have a buddy, put the tranny in a gear before you take the shifter off and when you put it back up try have someone spin the tailshaft with their fingers or slide the driveshaft back on and spin slowly that way and it should pop in quick minimizing your lifting time. THis is almost always the worst part of the job so take your time and do it right.

rear tranny seal autozones part number is #710425 if your local store has it...but click on link below for the rear tranny driveshaft seal advance carries it....and its up to you if you want to change out these seals in a used tranny i would a few dollars might save you having to pull tranny again...

hey, sorry about the delay. Something came up and I ended up having to go out of town. I have a day off on wednesday so I'm going to try and install the RMS, clutch, flywheel, etc then. I'll be sure to let you know how easy/hard it is to get a teflon one on.
