Hello all, would like to pick your brains.

I just acquired an 8.8 rearend out of an 88 turbocoupe. It has trak lok and discs. My car has the 7.5 with drums in it. Will this fit in my car without any tire rub even though the tbird axle is nearly 2" wider overall? And what if I get lowering springs that put it down another inch? I currently have 215/60's on the stock 10 hole aluminum rims. Just wondering if anyone else has done a similar swap or had experience with this. Thanks for reading.

Very common swap, will work with your current wheels. If you are going to install quad shocks, you have to change the mounting point on the mount on the rear by drilling a hole exactly 2 inches below the one on there. If you arent' using quad shocks--don't worry about it.

To make thing simpler, you could pull the axles and rear brakes and put your axles and drums on it.

Depends--the rear discs will require a little bit of wrenching/swapping things out--master cylinder, prop valve, e-brake cables, maybe booster, lines, etc, etc.

Click on 79-93 4-lug brake upgrades and read #5 towards the bottom of the page.

I did the swap on my '89. Pretty much bolt in. Swap in the Mustang axles and use the NorthRaceCar brackets to retain the rear discs. I'm running Eibach Pro Kit springs with no tire rub.

Thanks guys, that's a big help.

By the way, how do you like the ride of those pro-kit springs?

Thanks again,
Stefan
