To make a long story short, I have a T45 made out of 2 T45s. I've used the input shaft from one and the main shaft from another. My (first) problem is tons of gear whine. Is there any way to get rid of this? Heavier oil perhaps?

My second problem is that it runs hot. After a few laps at the local race track this weekend my bullitt shift knob was hot to the touch. Since the transmisison was just rebuilt, I know the fluid level etc. is good. Is this just a by-product of how close the mid pipe is to the transmission? Is there such a thing as a transmission cooler for a manual transmission?

is fourth gear quiet? usually the counter shaft bearings go in those, when the transmission is "over powered". if fourth gear is quiet, then thats your problem.

I'll listen closer but as a matter of fact I do believe that 4th is quieter than the rest. My mechanic said the bearings all looked perfect though. I'll have to give it listen on the way in to work today and see how it sounds.

OK, fourth gear isn't quiet but... It doesn't have the high pitched whine like the other gears does. At lower RPM there's a lower freqency rattling kind of noise.

Also, if this help, there is niose when the clutch is out with the transmission out of gear. Again, kind of a rattling noise.

how can you tell a T45 is blown? Anything I could look for? I think I blew mine because I can't shift into any gears.
