T5 ID?

Hey guys im going to pick up a t5 from a buddy of mine. I want to know what year 5.0 it came out of. How can i tell and read the Tag # And where is it located? Will it matter what year it is if im doing a g-force upgrade on the tranny? I just basically need it for the shell and shifter im replacing gears and mainshaft. Any info will be appreciated.

The numbers should be on the tag. You can take the numbers and plug them in HERE for a quick ID.

I'd call G-Force and ask them about any parts you might need to reuse with the upgrade.
