I busted up the t5 in my 88 gt with 197000 miles, i'm having trouble finding one, i found one from a ,96 v6 car, i know they are supposed to be weaker, but the torque spec are the same as my early wc , according to my chart. my worry is about the imput shaft length and the trans mount position can anyone please give me some info?

Actually,around 96 or 97 The V6 t-5 was rated at 300 ft'lbs so it may be stronger than yours.

You'll need to change the input shaft and bearing retainer to a fox style. I beleive yours will swap over provided it didn't get damaged

input shaft swap

How hard is it to do.....I haven't taken the trans apart but am thinking about trying to swap the input shafts.

get a junker shelled t5 from a junkyard, should be able to grab one somewhere fairly cheap. get a nice rebuild kit and replace any hard parts that may need replaced. it wont be cheap and u may have to spend a little money, but if you do it right the t5 should be good and last a while
