Aod To T5 Swap
I just had an AOD to T5 swap done on my car yesterday at MV Performance. That will probably be one of the best things I'll ever do to my 92 5.0 Notch. My AOD was giving up and the OD went out so it was time. It was real hard on the car to drive around without the OD especially since I have 4.10s. MV Performance did a great job and had it done in just under a day. I bought a T5 swap "kit" from Mustang Parts Specialties which I highly recommend since they give you literally "EVERYTHING"! I got the wiring harness, computer, every fastener nut and bolt necessary. I bought everything minus the transmission and clutch for about $1000. I tried scouring for the parts on my own and it's next to impossible unless you find a complete wreck. The transmission wiring harness is obsolete and very hard to find. I also recommend changing out the computer so that when you push in the clutch the revs drop more gradually unlike using an AOD computer where the revs drop faster. Buy things like the clutch, flywheel, bearing retainer, clutch cable, and an aftermarket shifter new. I upgraded wherever possible. I also went with an aluminum driveshaft which weighs 6 pounds lighter than the stock steel T5 driveshaft. I'd recommend also using 86-93 T5s since they use the same size clutch and flywheels.
