tach jumping fuel gauge crazy

Have a 92 mustang 5.0 with problems with the tach jumping around and the fuel gauge sometimes moves up toward 1/2 and somtimes goes to full.Have read on this board and the subject of the amplifier on the back of the gauge could be the problem.I just installed a new amplifier from ford part # e9sz-10e849-a and the problem with both the tach and fuel guage is still there.I took the cluster out and removed each part to ck for burnt spots and did not find any.Ibought the car and someone had replaced the back ground with white face background.could they have not put them back wrong,any diagrams of correct settings? If anyone has any thoughts please let me know

for the tach it just sounds like a loose wire because i know ive had that be the problem when the speedometer was jumping around...just my opinion
