does anyone have any tips for taking the tail pipes off from the hpipe with out having to cut them or take the springs off? i want to be able to put them back on if i dont like the sound so i dont want to cut them. thanks in advanced!
try jacking up the rear of the car as far as you can,
set car on jackstands,
support the rear end center section with a jack,
apply a little pressure,
disconnect the upper control arms at the rear end housing,
slowly lower the rear end.not too far though.go very slowly,
this should provide enough clearance to wiggle those tail pipe's out.i done the same thing when i put on my Flow's.
yeah, i was wondering if any one has been able to get them out without taking things off....if that fails, ill just do like you said and drop the rear end down a little.
also, does anyone know where i could get turndows that would boldt up to the h pipe? i think it sounds pretty bad ass just comming out the stock headers and h pipe and im going to keep it like that till i get my cats hollowed out and then put the pipes back on with my flows, how will it sound then?
I took the stock exhaust off my old Mach 1 without cutting it. I put the car up as high as I safely could on jackstands, then jacked up the axle a bit, unhooked the shocks and upper control arms, lowered the axle to relieve the pressure from the springs, and then you start taking the tailpipes out. You have to move them around in all sorts of crazy ways for them to come out, but it's possible.
As far as running dumps straight off the h-pipe, you can get some flowtubes from 5.0 Resto made by Pypes for about $40 which will bolt onto your h-pipe like the tailpipes do and then you could just go to an exhaust shop and they can whip up some turn downs to go on the flowtubes.
