Talk forum: 2 word story

(And BTW, where the H&!! have you been, GP???? I almost lost my sheet of rhymes in the great long period since you last threw out a "The End")

Busy... I know it sounds lame, but it is the truth. In Feb 05 I went from working for myself back into the corporate world. In 2 years I received 3 promotions (1 was a double grade promotion) and received more than 32% worth of pay increases over my initial starting salary (not counting my performance bonuses). As you can imagine, work took most of my time. In October of last year we merged with another company and there were changes. I was the only one retained from the original staff I was part of (150+ people). Although I was safe, the company definitely was not the same. I informed the new execs of my terms for continuing with the company. After the first month I could tell it was not going to work as we kept butting heads. I did not like the direction things were going, so I had a "Come to Jesus" meeting where I layed out my expectations for staying on. After they failed to meet expectation #2 I began looking elsewhere. Oddly enough, the VP I had worked for until October 06 landed a gig at another company and contacted me for recruitment. Timing was perfect. I breezed through the interview process but the offer took a while to get (parent company is based in Europe). Once I received the offer I gave 4 days notice :D My previous employer paniced bigtime. The first asked me to stay 2 weeks as it is "customary". After telling them that was not an option they made a healthy counter offer. I told them I would accept the offer if they agreed to fire themselves :)

I make more money at the new place, have better benefits (including 4 weeks vacation a year), and I GET TO WORK LESS HOURS!!!! :flag:

Sorry for the novel, but you asked.
