The relay coils for plug in automotive type relays can all run on a single 5 amp fuse.

While you are in the fabrication mode, plan to make a plastic cover for your circuit board to protect it from accidents like dropping a washer on it or from liquid spills due to rain or clumsy people riding with you.

I think I settled on a home for it.
The ECU isn't mounted and the harness wiring needs moved around a bit but I think this will keep it away from stray feet and other dangers.
As @jrichker said, I'll have to build some kind of cover for it as well.

Surprisingly there's a ton of room under the dash once you remove all the nonsense. Center console fits right up against it.

And it won't be entirely unreachable with the dash installed should I need to get to it. Or put a fire extinguisher on it lol.

Going to try and make the dash a little more "quick removal" friendly like I did with the SN95 car. Made life a lot easier.

Work is a little slow tonight. Suppose I'll update this thread.

Moved on to wiring project 2.0 in the last couple weeks.

Got tired of fighting it and cut out every wire under the dash

At first I thought I'd pick through it and simplify what was there so I removed all the loom and gathered up some diagrams.

As you can tell, that was a disaster in itself. Ford liked to backtrack wiring a lot it seems and there was just way more there than what was worth trying to tackle.

Salvaged all the factory plugs as I'm sure many of them will come in handy.
Also ditched the cutting board relay panel. It will partly be repurposed in the rear of the car but has mostly been dismantled.

Here's what I'm working with now. Company called Leash makes some really trick relay boards and other various electronics.

This will run the lights, signals, fans, transbrake, etc.
I think I'll separate the fuel pump(s) wiring out back to run less wire through the car. Otherwise this is the new home for most everything.

Mounted it all to a thick sheet of lexan. This picture is before I cleaned up the edges and all that, so just pretend it's pretty. The grommets through the lexan came out pretty good.

Here's where I'm at as of now. I've got some other terminals to add likely to the left of the ECU but it all hides behind the dash nicely and I die a little less inside looking at this.

I'm sure running all this wire will prove to be a blast as well.

I do enjoy it honestly. Electrical stuff seems to kick my ass but it's a lot of fun once you get rolling on it.

Now if the windows roll down when you put a turn signal on, I'll probably feel a little different about it lol

Works well at night if the windows are tinted dark.

Tanner, I feel your pain with electrical. A friend of mine brought his "Pro Street" 68 Camaro to me because the ignition was breaking up. He bought the car from someone, asked if I could take a look. Here's a few pics of what I found as I removed covers, and what I did with it.

$80 on Ebay got me this "starter kit" to which I used only about half of the circuits available to properly wire up the car. It's actually a bada$$ deal for $80. It comes with 12 circuits, a relay, flasher, and every wire is labeled with its function every 8 to 12 inches. Makes wiring very easy.

I have a question for you on another subject though. I just went through this whole thread and noticed you only have a roll bar, not a "cage" with a halo and A-pillar supports. From the looks of it your car should be easily in the 9.99-8.50 NHRA requirements. Are you planning on adding to the existing setup, or are you leaving it as is?

Yep. Blake Hughes at 417 motorsports. You have to do a small amount of welding to connect the lower to the upper half and obviously to attach it to the car.

It's about $800 shipped

Yeah, after I asked I did some Google searching. I'm already following 417 on FB. They're on my list.

So what are you doing about your cage? You going to add to it?

I want to go tubular , too. One day....

I ordered my 10 point from S&W Racecars ( my previous car ). The poles came pre-bent and I had to notch and weld them in. Worked out great...but next time I'll deal with a chassis shop. If I go that route I will have them tied into the sub frame connectors and through to the strut towers.

Stephen Eades kit is great I just liked the mounting tabs and where it welds to on Blake's. Either is a great choice.

As far as my cage, I'll be rocking the glorified 6pt for a bit until I can get enough stashed away to let someone replace it with a moly 8.50.
The current cage interferes with future mini tubs and I hate the subframe connectors and a couple other aspects. Needs to be gutted and redone.

Best piece of equipment I've ever bought for my shop. i use it constantly, just upgrade the cup and lense ASAP and its awesome

I had some parts left over from my college TIG days, so I'm not much help there. Though I just broke my last good cup so I'm in the market now too.
I think you mentioned Facebook at one point in your thread so if you have it, join the AHP tig page. Lot of great info like that. The torch they come with now will fit all the standard comsumables, nothing weird there

I just searched "TIG torch glass" on Amazon and there's a bunch of kits that show up that include different length torches, collets, glass and porcelain (?) cups all around $20
