Really been struggling to find the drive to work on the cobra the last few weeks.
And the time I have spent has resulted in more setbacks.

Rear end didn’t fit, turbo kit trouble, even stripped one of my new 3” wheel studs so only got one front wheel back on


But as I find time, I’ve been trying to stick with it anyways.
Today I mounted the solid state relay for my kill switch, ran power from the battery to ththe relay, and then to the post under the dash and up to my relay board. Grounded the board as well and laid out everything I plan to control with the Leash board this time around.
Engine fan
Trans fan
Compressor
Fuel pump X2
Scavenge pump
Even managed to have a couple relays left for the future.

Mounted the switch in the deck lid as well. Kind of forgot the lid is made of fiberglass and nearly ruined the truck with a hole I couldn’t use.
But I was able to save it and I think it came out very clean and simple

3” front wheel studs installed. Was able to get the car up on blocks and it’s a lot easier to move around under it now


That means I was able to modify and reinstall the trans mount.

Pretty handy deal there.

Still waiting on this guy to come back home, though the chassis shop did send me a couple pictures today, I think it may be finished by next week.

Thinking I’m going to get the wiring and what not wrapped up before I readdress the turbo system. Might even drive the car a little bit naturally aspirated just to spark some motivation.

Unfortunately I’m still miles from that. Started digging through the factory wiring, most of which was removed from the car. Going to reinstall it everywhere I can, and only remove what I absolutely won’t use and doesn’t adversely affect anything I will need.
Lights, locks, wipers, windows, radio, etc I still want factory wiring for.

That leaves me with this beautiful operation


On the bright side, I installed a second master kill switch in the console.

Will be able to shut off all power from the driver seat just like you can from the trunk.
Thought that was a pretty cool bonus to using a solid state relay for a kill switch.

Decided to redo the trans mount (again) and put a poly mount in just to be safe.

I surprise myself every once in a while. And sometimes it’s a good surprise lol

Rear end housing is done. Which was crazy fast. Going to pick it up tomorrow.

After I got the trans crossmember knocked out I went back to wiring.
Got the compressor and scavenge pump tied into the relay board and finished wiring up everything needed to power on the EFI system. Going to be patient and get some ignition wiring done and hopeful sometime tomorrow I can power it on and see what lights up.

I built a mount for the ECU. Used some sheet metal screws to attach it but i think I’ll switch to some bolts tomorrow.

Came out pretty decent. And still cleared the seat brackets.


Slowly chipping away at it.

45 3/8” to 48 3/8”.
Should be just the ticket.

I pulled the axles out to where I needed them to be before i pulled the old housing out. Needed 1.5” on each side. So this should be spot on.

We will find out in a few weeks though...

May keep working into the night tonight but got a good bit done today already.

Put the 8.8 together sans axles. Also added another set of ARB tabs and painted it like the last one.

Also dropped the battery in to see how my wiring was coming along.

Got the rear up under the car and buttoned up. Other than you’ll notice quite a few bolts that very obviously need tightened down.






Ended up yanking all the factory wiring out of the car. It was a mess and felt counter productive to try and work it back into the car. Have started working on rewiring the lights,locks and windows.

Still have a lot of work to do but it feels great to see the car at least looking done.

The driveshaft is too short but I’m hoping once the rear is squared up and adjusted in that I might have enough engagement.
