Progress Thread Tanner's "there's Probably A Name For This Illness" Builds Thread

I was also looking forward to seeing the vette progress, tanner has been around this forum forever and has cool builds regardless of the make. This forum has become more relaxed over the past few years and i think its cool that we can have the diversity without someone getting all upset over nothing. Lets not go all four eyed pride on him.

If nobody is complaining about then let it go...

Seems to be the way things go these days,....Chevy's in ford forums, dogs getting together with cats, bad hair buffoons winning elections.......it's the end of days.

dont forget that puppymonkeybaby thing. thats where i draw the line though.

Heya... What do you all think of just moving this thread over to OT?

Another possible location might be the Squeaky. Just keep in mind, that if you pick the SW that only Official Member+ can get in there (so long as they haven't been banned from it).

In either one of those forums, you can go nuts. Post whatever builds you want. SW has barely any moderation at all. I get a bit testy at most moderation attempts in Squeaky. hehe

95% of the thread has really useful information for fox/sn95 mustangs, so id say leave it here. If he started a new thread for the vette that would be a different story, but there are 30 pages of this thread that relate to this forum.

To be fair, I did notice a second corvette snuck it's way into this picture. So they really are multiplying...

Let's clarify things here guys.

Firstly this is a ford forum. And yes, the mustang enthusiast is the intended member. The fact that this sub forum caters to the fox version doesn't change that.

Tanners thread has always had an LS engine in the center of the build, but it's always been wrapped in ford skin. On other forums I populate, they either sequester that build to a crossbreed sub forum, or they simply won't allow it. Here, Tanner is the reason why a cross breed thread is tolerated in this specific instance. The fact that he does good work, and it shows in the pics and commentary are the reasons the previous threads were allowed. At the very least, there were still fox body mods, and race car prep/tech that one might be able to take away from what he had posted. I personally do not mind trans gender swaps, and I am a LS fan. hell, I even strongly considered one for the engine in the monster.

But

There is no longer any single thing that anybody could take away from a thread with a corvette in the center.

Im sorry if that sounds a little neo nazi, but it just makes sense. There are literally dozens of mustang forums online. And that goes to say that there are the same amount out there for any given make or model.to include Corvette, and Fat fendered ford pick ups.

that could also be said of my fairmont as well. The level of custom junk going on with the car makes the stuff that could be gained from anybody looking equally obscure. In some instances it may as well be a Corvette. But my car is still a fox, it still uses the exact same junk a mustang uses, AND, it has a ford engine,.......much to my financial ruin.

I guess it all gets down to what the majority ( all 14 of us) are willing to allow.
What happens when ol dude wants to detail his build of a monster Miata?
( it's still got a 5.0)
I detail a Mitsubishi Starion build with an r block 363?
Again, ford motor, jap car.

Some other guy wants to put a 2jz in a 89 coupe? Jap engine, ford car

69 Camaro, LS-2

Where do you draw a line here?
Wait...there's a fairmont forum? Who would of thought?

In my mind it will always be.....that he's just building the vette to finance his next mustang build. Vettes used sell cheap....but those vette guys sure do have money to pay for a nice built car. Good investment.

Is @madmike1157 bored or something? Leave this thread alone. I think tanner is grandfathered in to this site and has earned the respect to build any domestic hot rod he wants here. He's a car enthusiast and not stuck on one brand only and I like that.

@tannerc91gt , please keep up with the progress. I mostly lurk in your thread but felt the need to post because of this b.s.

My neighbor had a friend over visiting yesterday and I saw them walking around a really sweet 2015 Stingray. I walked over to check it out and B.S. with them. I got to say that it's a beautiful machine, lots of little things make that car a very nice sports car. His was a convertible, he's an older guy and has a few other Vettes too. One thing I gotta say, aside from all the really cool things about the car, is that the paint job looks like that of an old 90's Cavalier. What's up with all the orange peel!!! It's hard NOT to notice it.

Mine has incredibly little orange peel compared to some of the ones I've seen. The 7s being far worse than the 6's. My friends JSB car (the one occupying my garage) has nearly none either. But the regular gloss colors, sweet Jesus some of them are awful. I toured the corvette plant a few years ago, going back again this year, I will keep my eye out for the parking lot they paint them in

Hilarious! Look for the guys walking around with rattle cans.

So, from your experience, are you thinking it's a generation specific quality issue or certain colors?
just my opinion, but the solid colors of both generations show orange peel badly. There might just be enough going on in the metallic colors to make it less noticeable.

I'm pretty nervous about the paint work I'm having done this week, so I've been staring at paint quite a bit here lately lol

Looking good. Before you bought the c6 did you consider a c5z? Wondering your opinion on comparing the two.
I did. I love c5's lines the more time I'm around them. But I've wanted a c6 since 2004 and love the rear ends on them too much to go any other route and I don't care much for the aluminum 5.7s.
They're kind of hard to compare though really, all of the Z variants are "rougher" cars, solid roof, stiff suspension track cars for the most part. Didn't appeal to me as someone who will never see a track day. My friends blue base car has a handful of suspension mods and if you don't run the shocks pretty loose it will rattle your teeth out. The C5 interior is pretty much a Silverado with a nicer gauge cluster lol
Sooooo.... On car yet..... (Insert smiley eating popcorn)
picking the rears up tommorow afternoon and will hang them about 30 seconds after I get home!
