TERMINATED

That is nice that you already have an IRS brace. Very nice Cobra except for that ugly ghey hood :nice:

You need to make sure the car is ACTUALLY TUNED to use that pulley. Anyone who would install that hood would probably also run a pulley without a tune...

good call. that hood needs to go. plus if he has Lvl5 shafts and an IRS brace, it was likely drag raced.

other than that, it feels good to get in a cobra. i have not looked back since i sold my GT (i still see it everyday, i work with the guy who bought it).

Oh I know this car was drag raced. The 2nd owner of the car was the one who drag raced it throughout him owning it for 2 years and 4,000 miles. I have his set of BURNT to HELL M/T ET Street Tires. Supposedly the car ran mid 11s. But i'll see that myself after I tune it and take it to the track myself.

I'm ok with the track use this cobra has seen. The kid looked like he modded it right (minus the hood). And you'd be kidding yourself if you buy any used mustang (especially a cobra) and think it hasn't been beat on, even a little. :p

theres a difference between "spirited driving" or "Driving a car how it was intended" and "beating" on a car. i do spirited driving daily. beating on the car? never. IMO beating on the car is things like: always having to show off for and to random cars to get attention, getting sideways and burning out in parking lots, launching at every chance theres an open road, always running the motor at 3k cause it sounds cool at that rpm, etc.

i go WOT to get on the freeway (one of the reasons for wanting the cobra is that my onramp is small and i was sick of big rigs barreling down on me, now is a 2nd gear jaunt and i jump over into the third lane, unless some asshat is in front of me on the onramp, then im still pretty much stuck)

however a positive side is you knew who and how it was driven before purchase. if anyone tells you as youre looking at the car, especially a mustang, that it has "never seen redline" or "never been raced", walk the **** away, theyre a lying douchebag. the guy i bought mine from the first time lived up in the mountains, his commute to the morning was a half hour of twisties (going the speed limit) and 10 minutes of bay area traffic. his words were "yeah, i gotten to work in 15 minutes once, wouldve been 10 but i hit traffic, so yeah, it was driven". then the guy i sold it to who i later re-purchased it from was a pretty cool guy, and weve kept in touch over the 9 months he had the cobra, so i knew pretty much how it was treated then too, and the guy felt pretty much like me on the subject of beating on cars versus driving them like theyre intended.

^Mine gets beat on almost EVERYTIME I drive it. Why own something fast if your not going to get on teh bad boy?

do you own or are you still financing?

i prefer not to want to break my car, as i am financing, so making that 500$+ monthly payment on a car that is broken will not make me a happy camper. once i own it outright, that might change.

steeda off subject but are you in the army ..??

No not at the moment. Former Army ROTC Cadet. Went to Norwich in Vermont. Military college. Never commissioned after I graduated, so I was never fully in the army but I was on my way to becoming a 2nd LT. Maybe someday still. Currently I'm a BMW tech and working on becoming a NY Statie. We'll see how things go. Hoo ah :nice:

No I payed the car off in October (november payment) of 06. :nice: But before that it was N/A and I still beat on it :D . When I say beat, I mean making ALOT of highway and/or 1st gear roll runs. Car has seen COUNTLESS 6200RPM shifts with the cams N/A from 24000 miles to 55,000, now I run it to 5500-6000 depending and its been that way from 55,000 to now @ 65,000+. Only breaks it gets really are when we FIRST installed the cams (month) and FIRST installed the turbos (month), because it wasnt tuned. I drove like a grandmaw 99.9% of the time. I DONT however beat on it in corners and/or the brake department. 65K and I still have 1/2 pads on my stock brakes...I am very careful with the brakes and do my best to conserve them.

Lets just say that if you were to tear down my engine, there wouldnt be a hint of carbon in the chambers :)
