well, drove the car to work today and there's a guy with .... you guessed it...a honda. But it actually looked pretty good (stock). He did however have the fart can. If I'm not mistaken he has the 2000 ex with a 2.3 VTEC engine

him: Nice car you got there...you got a belt loose?
me: naw man, that's just the vortech. Thanks for the compliment though.
him: what's that?
me: it's kinda like ur VTEC
him: Oh wow..you have something similar to VTEC...that thing must be fast.
me:.....yup......

If you think about it though....a cent. supercharger is kinda like vtec in a way.....once you hit around 4000 rpm it kicks in hard.....well the supercharger does...the VTEC system just kinda farts i guess. I just thought the way he said it was funny.

eh, my pointless story of the day

I just meant from the extra kick.

Our engines are too old and outdated to have anykind of a variable valve timing system. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking it though. The weight of hondas/acuras makes them a fun little car to drive and that vtec system does provide a decent amount of power. My mom has basically the same car as him..the sohc vtec..and for what it is it's a fairly quick car...not fast, but quick

as a side note....that W12 is crazy......German engineering yo...v dub
those commercials are pretty funny lol.

of course you could always have the quad-turbo W16 that's in the buggati veyron.....mmmmmmm

or the w18 that was in the concept....crazy germans lol

oh no, don't get me wrong...it's slow as the f-bomb....but for what it is it's pretty quick....but not at all fast.

major dif between quick and fast.....at least imo. I guess some ppl have a different paradigm of what quick is.

In either case...I would NEVER take a honda/acura/...anything else really, over my cobra. Sure its old...and the v8 makes a bit of noise...but i'm still faster

I had a Harley rider at a gas station tell me that one of my pumps were going bad. I just said close, it's actually the supercharger... but he looked at me like I was some ignorant 12 year old. I couldn't let my woman be disgraced like that so I showed him what a 12 year old does and left the parking lot full of smoke

Sometimes ya just can't help it.

Hey nothing wrong with a Honda, as long as you keep them in check, I own two! used as DD. My wife loves her little putt putt civic it goes from a to b quite nice (not fast or quick) but nice. I drive the Oddessy, not fast per say, but pulls nice and smooth for a loser cruiser. On the other hand I truely love driving the stang, but not in winter. Stock V8 for the most part, my wife had the gall to tell me it was slow (after we swaped the v6 to v8) so to prove a point I took her for a spin in it the other day, she no longer thinks its slow. She doesn't get to drive it much, think she only drove twice this season, doesn't like to get her hair messed up! Like I give a $hit about hair.

I like to think of it as "There's a big difference between pep and power" Civics are geared for peppiness, they are great to get around a city, but on the highway, where passing power and speed counts, you can pretty much leave the honda in the garage and take out the real car.

I recently learned how VTEC worked, and it's an interesting concept....in a "prison gay" kind of way

yeah dude, i found out about the workings of vtec, and i dont see why they dont just run the other valve all the time?? how much gas mileage do they really need? oh well. great commuters. mad gay to look at with their mods.

Agreed, maybe not with all their models, but what about the sportier version doing that (the Si, I believe it's called). If they had one of their 18 models of civics with "full time VTEC", maybe we wouldn't laugh at them for having such a horrible lower RPM power range...
